Changing Thread Titles.

I'm not normally opinionated on here, I try to go with the flow & stay chilled.

But this is the first forum I've ever frequented where a thread I've been following, suddenly appears to vanish.

As I say, I'm not wanting to fall out, but it's a bit twatty.

Can someone please explain the thinking behind it, because I just don't understand what it's supposed to achieve.

Thanks in anticipation, have a reasonable day.

Another attack of "toys out the pram" syndrome. Seems to happen every few months on here.

Try and ignore it.

A note to everybody: Think before you post and if you can't think of anything nice to say then don't post.

It may give you a buzz being nasty but the rest of us don't enjoy it.

EFA... I don't recall you being elected as milk monitor, Mr driver.

Am I right in thinking this recent spat was due to a certain septic trying to push its politics on people again?

I believe so, and de-railing lots of threads with his chat. The sort of things that PMs / facebook / e-mails / the phone were made for.

It's like being in the pub next to the bloke who's noisily on the phone and is pissing me right off. The title changing made me smile to be honest

It would seem that way although the title changing is almost as annoying as him clogging up every thread with untat related bollocks.

Without trying to start a yarn, your right John, people are pissed off with it all, this was a mostly friendly forum until he join and since then long term members have been leaving one by one as they are sick to death of the drivel that come out of his mouth. (I never normally bad mouth people btw but it gets to a point when you've had enough).

I've had him on ignore for a while which has made it better but you still can't get away from it as other members quote him all the time.

The thread title changing is silly but i can understand it, i can also see why he got band from RR.

I'm angry as we have lost some great contributers this year because of this. :(

I did it on one thread, basically copied Hirsts idea cos it made me LOL! Yeah it was an attempt to poke a bit of fun at our resident gun-toting free-market sarsaparilla slurping nut case Capri lover. Soz if it upset anyone, (though not soz enough to change it back mind you)

Because yonks ago I made a thread about decent content (ironically, because people were posting nonsense), which lasted quite a long time before gradually being filled with waffle and was re-titled appropriately so nobody has to waste their time looking at it, in an effort to make it drop off the bottom of the page and hopefully die and be replaced with other threads which don't have my name as the author. The long and short of it is that I don't want to have my name on the front of a now-crap thread. If there were any mods about, I'd ask them to delete/lock it, but they don't seem to visit very often nowadays (can't figure out why).

Have to say I'm bemused that people are so bothered about the title of a thread, but seemingly couldn't give a toss about the "content" within it. It has run its course, please just let it die and go off the bottom of the page. Maybe it can be replaced by good content, either that or people giving verbal abuse to computer-generated spam adverts - whichever really. Much obliged!

Yep, I've had the seppo on ignore as well but it seems to delight in pissing off the home team and this affects the general mood of the site.

Perhaps we should appeal to everyone to add it to their "foes" list? Then it can rant away to its heart's content without anyone noticing.

Hehe yep, I also had a quick grin at the title changes, but (except for Hirst's example above) they probably wouldn't have occurred if the septic hadn't wound people up.

I confess...I spat my cuppa out when I saw the renamed thread titles......but then again I have been here long enough to understand the humour....I was wondering where a lot of members had gone when I came back after 9 months away.........

The new titles made me smile too. And it took all of two seconds to work out what they were. Clues: number of pages, and author, and if you click "view first unread post" button, you'll be in no doubt from the text. Even the post titles remain up until the change.

In conclusion: Meh.

Unless I'm being really dense the problem seems to have suddenly vanished :D

Is this the work of the fabled management or just general good karma?
