Recall us exhuming this 2 stroke last Spring, and dragging it back from the West Country? well, today this happened- finally. As you can see, we missed a couple of minor items, but we rebuilt the whole damn front end, that had seized solid. Everything - brakes, suspension, steering etc Anyway, it’s back road legal- first time since 1995, Do I use it through winter, or wait till Spring? On to the 4 stroke Wartie next- have a nice Scirocco transplant awaiting!

  2. We finally, officialy, properly, have the keys to our new house. Was it all plain sailing? Of course not! The previous owner had managed to lock the front door with the wrong key, snap the key off in the lock, not tell the estate agent, and leave the wrong keys with the estate agent. So when other half attempted to unlock, he couldn't get in. Queue a locksmith and £80 bill which is now getting passed on to the previous owner. The correct keys were found inside the house, typically. You've got to laugh I suppose. We also learned the previous owners bought the house when it was about

  4. Driving home on the back roads as the bypass is fucked again, I suddenly hear a very loud aggressive sounding whistling... Some panic over the next few miles as it rose with speed, decreased with speed... Clutch and brakes didn't change the note. Steering felt fine. Dropped the windows incase it was the tyres, the works! I got into my head that it'll be alright, cars driving fine and just get home then have a look. Fucking Land rover 90 infront of me turned off the road 4 miles later and the noise stopped...

    Ford timelord

Can't let this thread slip too far down the forum! I recently managed to have a brief phone conversation with Paul Bickers himself, and he confirmed that it was indeed the original Timelord that he banger raced. Interestingly though, the theory I'd come up with that he obtained the car after filming the video for 3AM Eternal was incorrect - Paul tells me he was not involved with that and only obtained the car through one of his contacts in the film industry at a later date. He did say that the car was scrapped after the meeting (unsurprisingly) and that was the end of Timelord. Paul wa

Well, that's phenomenal - thanks so much for pulling so many strings to speak to those with a concrete link to the Timelord! So I think we finally have all the evidence to formulate a definitive answer to Bren's question, a year after it was asked - WGU 18G was indeed raced and subsequently scrapped in June 1991, after a very eventful four years in Jimmy Cauty's ownership. The race footage indicates that so much bodywork had been hacked/fallen off, that I think we can put to bed any hopes that the remains were squirrelled away somewhere. The latest pic, from Paul, clearly

  14. An update, the Cavalier Colorado has taken the 405s place on the drive as I want the 405 inside for when I work on the sunroof. I them had the Cavalier Mot tested for the first time since 2016. A few advisories, apart from a small dribble from the sump plug and a chip that’s been in the windscreen since 2000... it was corrosion on brake lines and underbody fuel lines. Not totally unexpected. The fuel lines have now been replaced with copper nickel pipes and the brake pipes done as well. And thanks to Burnside I have a new rear tailgate seal to sort out the condensation that always happens with

That Saxo is weirdly appealing, but the flat tyre and general 'muddy yard next to a housing estate' vibe of the pics don't fill me with confidence, but I suppose that's just what Rochdale is like. I'm struggling to come to terms with how ugly cars have gotten in the last 15 years that a fuggin' Saxo of all things looks like a nice minimalist piece of sensible car design (steering wheel excepted)

  24. Here's something that I'd not consciously seen for decades before encountering it in a charity shop today. If my mind is less addled than I think it is, I once had a set like this but containing a Honda Accord and a sailing boat on a trailer. Would have been the late 80s that I got it; I rapidly developed a major crush on the Honda and it became my main plaything on The Mound at school (a big grassy edifice at one end of the playing field, with ruts and hollows that, to an eight-year old's imagination, resembled a hilly network of roads and tracks). Thing is, though, this

July 2020 MoT, 125k miles, bit scabby but £695. Needs new handbrake shoes and cables, the handbrake doesn't work at present but the car holds no problem when it's in park Not a problem then. A quick Google shows replacement cables aren't expensive either, should you keep it beyond the next test. https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201912075141088?radius=1500&postcode=sw97qe&advertising-location=at_cars&onesearchad=Used&onesearchad=Nearly New&onesearchad=New&price-to=1000&sort=price-asc&year-to=2000&page=17

Shortly after he leaves go out side to see old exhaust rubber and associated old cable ties dumped on the road where the taxi was parked. 46. First the good news, I now have the MK1 AX 14TRS as hinted at in my AX 11TZX sales thread. The bad news was because loading an AX onto a Sprinter custom car transporter and moving 70 miles was too easy @Wingz123 did it with the AX locked, without keys and the handbrake firmly on! My garage on arrival did curse me! Just for a little extra drama the ramp jumped from under the o-s front wheel while unloading it. The AX 14TRS is now at my favourite garage for them to get it running and MOTed. I can't wait to get behind the wheel and feel the power of that 1360cc 70 bhp engine!

  48. Again, it’s usually a couple of weeks of not hearing from my insurance until I get seriously fed up and end up calling/emailing them for an update. This time, it’s gone from good to bad (again). They’ve received a statement from the third party’s “driver” who still claims to have not hit my car, but is now admitting following me to Asda. His statement is full of lies and actually admits (without realisation) that he’s in the wrong lane to go where he wants. My insurance handler, again, didn’t know which way to go with this so I’ve had to basically tell her how to do her job. This is all beginn
