Any ebay alternatives yet? Now with added shiz

Can anyone recommend something other than ebay for shifting old car related stuff, been tidying the workshop and there's an awful lot of chod taking up valuable space that I'm just never going to do anything with. And there's a whole load of tat I organised for autojumbling, did the one and then couldn't be arsed. Up to 5 ish years ago ebay was perfect, 10 years ago it enabled me to go self employed during the first few lean years, but they pushed me too far and that left me with half the stuff, the other half I bought via the gits.

Maybe I'll take some piccys tomorrow and offer here, I suppose I could try other forums, but joining up just to sell could be a bit grubby.

Retro-Rides or here spring to mind. Start a 'tat clearance' thread and see what happens!

Don't think anyone would be upset if you listed it on here. I'd certainly look through.

You don't have any FS series locks/barrels from Triumphs/Minis/etc do you?

Wilmot Breeden / Union keys are stamped with a code (eg FS989). The codes either start with FS, FA, FP or FT. I don't know how interchangeable the pins are (if at all).

My car has four different FS code locks, I'd like to strip them down and rebuild them so they all use the same key, but first I need to harvest some more pins from old locks.

I do have a few FS locks Peter, I'll have to dig them out and do pics so you can see if they're suitable. Would anything other than lowering springs, rimz and stickers sell on RR?

Here's a load of old tosh that was prime ebay fodder a few years ago, sadly now would just be a big arseache, shame as I could really use an alternative income at the moment, my clients are mostly pissing me around these days and I'm wasting too much time chasing them for payment, I know times are hard but I'm saving them the huge expense of replacing kit and I'm finding it hard to get motivated.

Enough moaning, this first lot was neatly packed in crates in ready for some autojumbling that I never did,

I will have to empty them and do pics, maybe I should knock up a website.

I bought this old bike to do a winter rebuild on, but that was about 5 or 6 winters ago, I was kind of put off when I took it for a blast and found that no amount of defensive riding action these days would keep me from becoming road pizza, and the roads around me are still rammed with feckless pondlife. I'm not sure of value, would a grand be reasonable.

And a load of parts to go with it.

3.5 Rover V8, no manifolds, bought from an old boy who said he kept it from a rotted out auto SD1 with 70K on the clock many years earlier. 100 (This poxy laptop has lost its pound sign)

Metro turbo units, there's an old skanky one for rebuilding, and I think there should be another somewhere, a new old stock one, at least one each of the manifolds etc, a dizzy, possibly another, but the carb I lent to someone I haven't seen in years so doubt I'll see it again. I gave 400 for the new turby, so I suppose 400 for the lot will make me happy. What's up with this laptop doing # instead of pound sign, bloody $ works, how many more things are going to annoy me today?

TGA Electric tricycle, drives through the gears and is dangeously fast, made in England and classed or approved or whatever it is as a mobility scooter but I don't know how the things got around the max speed limit regs, probably legal in first gear only, barely used from new, new batteries fitted, check out da stance. 500, yes I know that looks a tad salty, it's a kind of specialised bit of kit.

Austin FL1 Hire car, based on the FX3 cab, I had planned to put this on the road this year as part of a mass cull, intending to put into use first and sell last, if at all, but time has moved too quick for me. Been living in a rented lockup for over a decade (about 5K in rent, I really should pull my finger out) and wants a respray and some welding in the boot floor, the holes are patched with something looking like varnished paper, done in the early '70s. Actually this car lived in a railway arch from 1973 until I bought it in about 1994 I think, used it as my main car for a few years, there's a load of mechanical spares to go with it, engine, box, axles and I have the correct grill rather than the plain taxi one it sports, some years ago bought a couple of huge rolls of 1950s brown vinyl freshen the door trims, stashed them where I worked at the time, and then had the brother of a colleague hassling me for them relentlessly, he was an A35 restorer or something that shares the same brown vinyl, someone else warned me he was a thieving bastard so I took them home. I don't suppose this would ever fetch what I would want for it in it's current state, MOT and taxless, but I don't want to part with it for less than 4K.

I'll get a message to my FX3 owning friend about the FL1. He has someone hassling him about HIS FL1, so this might gain him some peace!

You could be sitting on quite a lot of cash there. Iwould sell it on ebay individually or off the whole lot to an auto jumble chap. Depends how much time you have

That FL1 is stunning. Slightly out of my price range though alas. A bag sounds reasonable for the 400/4, if it's as tidy as it looks in the pictures. They're a great little bike.

That'd be great! PM with details and a price me when you find them.

I really like the trike. Saves me taking the car for going to the supermarket etc (that'll ensure the battery dies within a week, oh well...) and would be GR11 if I had to move to the Smoke (which is a possibility as I have another interview down South). I see you're in Watford. Any chance of being available Tuesday morning when I'll be passing through (I only want to have a look, mind- should be able to make a decision within a week)?

Massive long shot Des but do you have any Volvo 120 series wing mirrors?

Posted

I could be interested in any Mk3 Escort bits and Mk1 Fiesta bits for spares for my cars..

And what is in the box with BM on below the Mk3 escort rear light in this pic?

Albert that would be good, although to be honest I'm in no rush with it, still (unrealistically) hope I can use it again for a bit, used to be gr9 fun ripping FX4s, even the Fairways, as it has petrol engine and set up more for powah over economy, it's never met a TX1, wonder who would get their arse handed.

Wuvvum, the bike isn't as tidy as it looks in the pic, needs painting and the wheel rims are ugly with rust, although the rare and usually missing bits are there.

Peter, I'll piccy the locks but will have to find them first, watch this space.

Luxo, I should be around on Tues, as the only thing planned is getting my hair cut, will PM.

Daveb, I will be delighted for the opportunity to pollute your site with my shite.

Watanabe, I think I have something Volvoish mirrorwise, I think with a strange pivoty hinged bit on the mounting lug, again will have to dig it out and piccy.

Retrogeezer, I've not much Escort Fiesta stuff, (apart from vintage gentlemans publications) will have to check, do have a Fiesta Weber somewhere and probably 1 or 2 rear foglamps, the BM box is a gear lever gaitor, or was as I noticed that box is now empty.

And breathe.

No hurry. Don't stress about the pictures, I'll take anything FS.

I'd be interested in anything Allegro related, particularly mirrors and hub caps...

(A long shot but if you don't ask...)
