The Wheelie Wagon looks epically lethal. There's something very primeval about floppers and rails when they fire them up.

This has some resemblance to a Fiat Topolino. I know they used them in the past for dragsters.

Is that what this is, or maybe a replica :?:

Spectacular Norm - what drag strip was this at? Looks like a large meet. Is that 'Grocery Getter' Bonneville a replica of something?

Great photos. The funny cars (if that's what class they run in?) remind me of a cool book all about custom cars and dragsters I was given as a child. It amuses me to look back at it and see that they used to use the most bizarre models for funny car bodies - like Buick Skyhawks and Chevy Vegas. Many seemed to be based on 71-73 Mustangs and Cudas of the same era. Also loving those Chevy Novas, and the Olds 442.

Great photos, Norm. You've really caught the atmosphere as well as the cars so I've used my 1,000th post to say thanks :)

I love the way the rods and customs are so well designed and engineered your side of the pond. For example that Grocery Getter has got the wheels and the stance just right, something we seem unable to do. Look forward to more the next time.

That makes the stuff I saw recently at Santa Pod - 'the main event' - seem very tame.

It seems to be the same stuff every time there.

When I was a lad (1973), I remember seeing Don Garlits vs Shirley Muldoony which was very exciting because the yellow car blew up*

*this is not exactly true, the supercharger belt went through the roof of the Stardust funny car & smashed it to a million bits.

You see this last time you were there?

Do wonder how that gets on against stuff...

Another waif wanders in through the RR Refugee Gate!

In my case, that would be rollerskated through, with a pair of big ol' headphones on playing Revolution of the Mind by James Brown.

Dual citizenship Norm  Well someone's got to be custodian of your battered & tattered flag on RR until it once more takes it's rightful place. 8)

Hotwire is no doubt keeping it warm for him, probably with a blowtorch.

Whatever you do here, do not, I repeat, do not, incur the wrath of SOC by doing something cruel and unusual like regurging the lyrics to that James Brown tune.

No, no. DON'T do that!

Try Me.

I'm a little Bewildered at the mo, so joined here for some Escape-Ism. Anyway, I'ts A New Day So Let A Man Come In And Do The Popcorn. Norm, you have to Give It Up Or Turnit A Loose, so Get Up, Get Into It And Get Involved!
