Talbot Solara Rapier For Sale...NOW SOLD!!

Due to yet another purchase, more of which another time, I am reluctantly selling my Talbot Solara Rapier.

It's a 1985 C with just 39,000 miles from new with 4 owners.

I have the original sales invoice showing the first customer as a Mr Mairs from Southampton who paid £6205.84 for the car in November 1985 and part-exchanged a Peugeot 504 for £1000.

The car is in very good condition apart from a few bits which I can show you. I bought it in March 2010 with a brand new MOT and had it driven trouble free down from Scotland. Since then , I haven't driven it...not once!! So the MOT ran out March this year.

When I went to start it today for the first time in over a year , it started first time with a bit of choke and jump leads. I really do think it's a good little car in lovely two-tone Sable Metallic and Pagoda Red.

Take a look at the piccies and see what you think:

The interior is in excellent condition. Nice unmarked velour seats and plush carpets. It needs a bit of a clean but no worse than many cars I see as daily drivers. The Rapiers had the 5-speed Peugeot gearbox and power-steering so they are really a lovely drive.

I will show you the worst bits on the car.

The front bumper needs repair on this corner.

And there is a dent on the front wing...I'm sure a dent man could do this. Also there is a tiny bit of rust just coming through. You can just see it on the wing tip.

And for some reason, the paint has faded on one C pillar.

The wheel arches are all good and the alloys complete with the hard to get hold of centre caps. If I was keeping the car I would get the alloys re-furbed.

This could easily be used as a daily driver as is, or a bit of effort from someone could easily bring this up to a minter.

I was a bit naughty and drove it round the block and it drives very well. There really shouldn't be any problems getting an MOT...but I just don't have time at the moment to faff about and as I said a new bit of tat is arriving shortly so I need the space.

Anyway, if you are interested in buying it please PM me. A really rotten, grotty Solara with no MOT went for £310 on ebay last week. This one is a hundred times better and I am asking £400.

Remember, the Solara was the height of sophisticated motoring in the 1980s and many people believe them to be the best cars ever built. Don't miss out on the experience!!

I will put it on carandclassic next week if no interest on here.

Many thanks.

boobs.

P.S I'm in Hertfordshire.

Me too lol.

This one is lovely, wonderful colour scheme. Shame we don't see many if any two tone cars anymore.

Would love this but I think it is a bit too far away sadly :( .

I never did really love these cars all that much, but this ones color scheam does actually make it look quite nice.My dad had a Brown over Gold 1985 Solara GLS Series 2 Automatic with 7156 miles from new, which had suffered a light bump on the nose, but prior to that was a concorse candidate. After sitting for about 10 years,I did get my wish, and it went to a Solara enthusiast who was at that point without one,as he had sold his very rusty 'Rapier',but as yet,I haven't found if it ever got back on the road to a fast recovery,or if it ended up broken.

I just forked out £100 on new MOT and battery!!

Be a boobydoo 'lookey-likey' this summer! :P

Who'll give me £300?

C'mon, you know you want to!

Posted

Are you seriously telling us we can buy a beautiful 39k solara with a years ticket for just £300?

Posted

That's insanely cheap! Lever out the 39k motor and lob in an XUD for the ultimate shiters daily.

Posted

Can't be arsed with it. I just want it gone.

It passed MOT with just a headlamp adjustment needed. It's nowhere near Ingram standard but its a nice car.

Will you throw in a free drive of a Tagora for the winning buyer?

Posted

Crikey O'Blimey. If this don't sell I think I might just be giving you £300 on principle

Posted

Could you not just sneak it onto the forecourt of your Mercedes dealers with a £19995 price tag and hope some punter comes along? Tell them it's the new T Class or something?

Posted

I'm mega surprised this wasn't snapped up for the original asking price. Lots of people here talking the shite talk but very few of us doing the shite walk eh? (myself included obviously, more so than anybody else in fact)

Gary if you get this you have to take me for a drive in it straight away

I've now checked my finances, got some insurance quotes etc, and although this is stupidly cheap, I'm sorry to say that I really can't afford the cost of tax, insurance and collection (and fixing the Allegro) this month.

:(:(

I hope it goes to a good home, surely somebody on here must want it...

I'm very sorry Boobydoo, I've sent you a PM, I hope I haven't come across as a time waster, it really wasn't my intention.

Thats cheap ! We got £700 for ours which was accident damaged, although it did come with all panels to complete
