Torsten2001 Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 I bought this ages ago and Andrew353w very kindly hoofed it daaaan sarf today for me today! As is normal I only had a few minutes to bathe in its magnificence but ooo what a stunner! Started easily and runs quite nicely, obviously a few gremlins but generally just lovely!
Craig the Princess Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 Excellent, good to see it stay in shiteists hands. I really wish I had the space for that one when it became avaliable.
fordpoplier Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 looks loverly! What on earth did they call that bronzey colour?
Rod/b Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 HUZZAH 4 Mr 353W! Enjoy it Vek, I reckon you'll make that good without too much effort. Did Tony put the NOS HT leads in the boot?
garethj Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 I was thinking recently (obviously not when they were new) that there's some great design touches in there; the very narrow and wide grille, the vinyl on the C pillar and the straked wheels or hubcaps are fantastic. If I had as much room as Torsten, I'd have one too Good save!
Cavcraft Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 Wonderful!I think that colour is called 'Reynard'.
Torsten2001 Posted June 29, 2011 Author Posted June 29, 2011 HUZZAH 4 Mr 353W! Enjoy it Vek, I reckon you'll make that good without too much effort. Did Tony put the NOS HT leads in the boot? o you know what, I haven't looked in the boot! Will do in about a week!
Rod/b Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 Bung me a PM when you know - if he hasn't i'll dig them out when I'm back in the UK and either post them to you or drop them in.
scooters Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 Vek, I had a new year resolution not to look at any porn before lunch and thanks to this picture it is now a broken new year resolution. That is fantastic.....I really really want to own a BL wedge sometime especially one in poo with a vinyl roof and a beige inteior - legendary mate
Shep Shepherd Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 Wonderful!I think that colour is called 'Reynard'. Or as I endearingly call it, 'Fox Piss Metallic' Nice to see such a late model Princess still knocking about. I'm told that by 1981/82, the car was being built in very limited numbers indeed.
dollywobbler Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 Mr 353 has got this sussed. Don't upset the wife by collection shite for yourself - collect it for someone else instead! Looks gorgeous.
Mr_Bo11ox Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 Did he A-frame it with hs Skoda Fun? If so the lad has literally got nads of high-carbon steel.
Mash Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 I really would like a Princess one day but I suspect I shall have to be content with just looking. Reynard really is a nice colour - it makes even Allegros and Marinas look good!!
eddyramrod Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 I seem to remember the Dinky model was available in this colour, I'm sure at least one of mine was before I painted it...Painted to match the two full-size ones I had, obviously; in colours Dinky never issued. One red, one black. My over-riding memory of them is how roomy and comfortable they were. I'd love to find one here, it would soak up the never-finished roadworks a treat! Good save Torsten, many happy miles with it.
andrew e Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 Very nice Mr T. Reynard is one of the better BL colours, it's no Black Tulip mind!
254575 Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 that car owes me ....... oh i cant be bothered to say it anymore
Torsten2001 Posted June 29, 2011 Author Posted June 29, 2011 Did he A-frame it with hs Skoda Fun? If so the lad has literally got nads of high-carbon steel. The Skoda is mine, mine all mine!
Torsten2001 Posted June 29, 2011 Author Posted June 29, 2011 that car owes me ....... oh i cant be bothered to say it anymore I'll have a word with it!
254575 Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 that car owes me ....... oh i cant be bothered to say it anymore I'll have a word with it! I went to view it, when it used to live by a garden centre in Dorset or that part of the world. started it up, and it blew an oil seal in front of my eyes! left the owner £50 deposit/get it looked at, but couldnt go through with the purchase in the end due to a problem with the daily
Rod/b Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 That oil seal has been fixed since. The bloke I got it from replaced it.
Andrew353w Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 Did he A-frame it with hs Skoda Fun? If so the lad has literally got nads of high-carbon steel. I'll have to speak to "her indoors" to inform her of my anatomical peculiarities.... Actually it was an easier tow than I anticipated-certainly easier than the Rover 2600 SDI, but that may have had more to do with my liberal consumption of "Blue Moon" lager the day before... Glad to have assisted you, Mr Torsten 2001!
andrew e Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 Actually it was an easier tow than I anticipated-certainly easier than the Rover 2600 SDI, but that may have had more to do with my liberal consumption of "Blue Moon" lager the day before... It never showed* Andrew, I hope your Xantia forgives me!
Anglevan Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 Lovely purchase - I'd love something BL my self but my family would just disown me. I nearly bought a gold SLX Ital estate a year ago, i'm sure I would not be married now if I came home with it LOL .. Look forward to seeing more pictures..
Craig the Princess Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 Pretty sure Reynard was gone by X-reg. That looks like the imaginatively named Bronze Metallic.
Magnificent Rustbucket Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 I find these things quite attractive.
Rod/b Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 I sort of fell out of love with it the day it was delivered, through no fault of it's own. I jumped into the car to reverse it off the trailer and sort of misjudged it, landing full weight half in the seat, and half out, with my spine smashing straight onto the striker plate for the door latch. It fucking hurt, did that. It's a nice place to be, though, if you get in properly. BTW Vek, you may have noticed a change to the dash from standard. It's got an Allegro rev counter in place of the clock (it's in the boot if you want to swap it back). I seem to remember the previous owner saying the wiring was a bit dodge so worth checking.
KruJoe Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 I jumped into the car, with my spine smashing straight onto the striker plate for the door latch. It fucking hurt, did that.So that explains why you now look like this.
