New member - pics of my shite

Welcome fella, I too bought a white 1.7 340 out of chelmsford car auctions for £165 in 2000, and broke it in 2003 - I wanted the seat's for my VW microbus, they work a treat on the VW runners. I reupholstered the remaining rear seat backrest with the material from the rear seat and stuck the rear boot soundproofing in too! Alas the only picture of it is sat on my Nan's mantlepiece with my two (then very little) daughters using the parcel shelf as a picnic bench (complete with shite building @ Canvey Islands "Labworth" in the back ground). From memory getting the dizzy cap off entailed breaking it and fitting a new one because it was so tight to the bulkhead.

It did cause a blinding row wife the wife after an impromptue (but oh so neccesary) hand brake turn in a wet Woolworths car park; quite possibly because the kids were strapped in the back :lol:

Interesting to read that the seats fit so well into VW buses. Did you happen to take your bus to the Volksworld show last year? I remember getting very excited that a bay window at the far end of the car park had 340 seats in the front.

Loving that green 343/345, it looks very smart.

By the power of some image enhancement (squinting at the screen from a bit further away) I made out that it was TNO908W, upon which DVLA says:

The vehicle details for TNO 908W are:

Date of Liability 01 11 1995

Date of First Registration 12 01 1981

Year of Manufacture 1981

Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1397CC

CO2 Emissions Not Available

Fuel Type Petrol

Export Marker Not Applicable

Vehicle Status Unlicensed

Vehicle Colour GREEN

I remember it looking quite tidy, but then they never seemed to look particularly rotten.

A stock car racer called Horry Barnes built one up as a saloon stock car in the '90s, to replace a Datsun that he'd been racing for about 200 years. I think there was some interest in the concept, as it would be a ready source of RWD shells when I presume the Sunbeam was starting to get difficult to find. It didn't really set the tracks on fire, however.

That's the best pre-facelift 300 I've seen for a long time 8)

Welcome along! Your 345 looks familiar, did one of the lads on 300 Mania own it before you?

Welcome to the site fella, nice 300s you've got/had there, particularly the pre-facelift which looks quite tidy style-wise compared to the later examples. My Dad had a couple of 340GLs a fair few years ago, quite functional cars, I'd love to try one. I can truley relate to how you got into a certain type of car because of what parents had, thats how I got into Rover 800s.

There are a few 300 around here in Brum, will have to go out and snap some.

No, that's me on 300 Mania (user S10NPH). The only person to own it before me was one the one lady owner who bought it from new. I don't often use V3M, but it's useful for technical help.
