The irrational hatred thread

Bugger. One has put one's foot in it, again.:oops:

They are pretty dull to drive. The car version we had was much more lively and enjoyable to drive. The Megane Scenic does have ace body roll though, just like the Renault's of old :) .

Oh, and Peugeot 1007 slidy door bollocks. Look stupid and weigh more than the moon.

GR1243kg for taking over the bridge!

Don't blame the cars in this list! Blame the owners!

I partially agree however it's a well known fact that 3 series BM drivers are incredibly handsome, incredibly well endowed FLANGE MAGNETS and therefore exempt from any H8RD on this thread.

I like my Golf. It's nice, and not a A3.

XAnything BMWs. just don't see the point.

Mk1 Ford Mustang, I can see the attraction what with them being a landmark in American car history but just get fed up with seeing vast amounts of them owned by monied up 30-something IT consultant types at shows.

Most of them drive like a bloody land mark as well. Camaro was a far better car to drive.

@ FT - sorry, I realised I actually meant Micra K11 on my hate list not K12

Also: +1 on Subaru Impreza ...also see Mitsubishi Evo with massive wanker spoilers.

Golf TDi - also tend to be driven aggressively...

-1 on the Picarsehole ... I like these.

Oi I resembled that comment

as for soul destroying a-b ness, isn't that reflected in the entire Vauxhall range since the mid 1990's, VW Golfs mk3's and beyond, anything after mk3 escroat etc etc etc? In fact there is not much that isn't a-b soul destroying that has been created in the last 20 odd years

Believe me that there is a world more shite on the road at the turn of the millenium when I had a load of fun bringing 3 little thestags into this world and needed something to transport them around in. The trusty family 1.8 Picasso served us well for many years and was one of only two cars at that time which had three full sized seats across the back, not for fat arses but baby seats and a boot big enough for all the crap that goes with kids. the other at the time was an e-class merc estate and i just didn't fancy chucking all that money on a car. older shite didn't have centre 3 point seatbelts so hobsons choice really. blind, idiotic, stingey?

Nah, tbh on top of the tardis like capacity, 4 star euro ncap rating, reliable, tough hose out interior, didn't give a shit what it looked like from the outside so not bothered really. the biggest problem with the picasso was the meteoric depreciation. but still cost us about a millionth of the cost of running that e-calss estate over the same timeframe - and I'll bet that it would have spent a shed load less time at the main stealers too :D

btw she has a c4 grand picasso now which I also quite like  bits of it are packaged very well but some of it is made out of bone china which is a bit shity.

roll me back to 2001 and would I do it again. you bet yo lilly white phat ass.

Hehe, good counter-rant! :D

BUT... I did concede in my first attack on the execrable Picasso that they're well-equipped, good value, practical etc. And this thread is all about irrational hatred, so I unloaded both barrels on this misbegotten, haemorrhoid-shaped shart of a vehicle. And it does deserve it, in all fairness... it is one of the ugliest vehicles ever to hit the road – and for that reason alone, Monsieur Picasso designer needs that acid-soaked drawing board kicking up his freshly-deceased arse.

BTW Don't get me started on Vauxhall from 1995 onwards... anything with a V grille needs weighing in IMO, including the later "corporate-styled" Calibras. Except perhaps the Monaro, which isn't really a Vauxhall anyway.

Folks, I didn't post this.... this time! ;)

Well said, that man.

Where are these Maserati pics? I have a rational hatred of them after doing what you're doing to one, years ago.

Hmm, got to disagree with you slightly there. I like the Mk 3 Cav hatchback a lot, had a 1994 SRi for five years and loved it for every single day of that time. I only sold it to make way for a pristine 60,000 mile V6 Calibra, also 1994, which is also great and which I still have over 4 years later. The Cally is now 17 years and 125,000 miles old and has never needed welding, impressive stuff in comparison to Vaux's performance in the past!

But I've never liked Astras of any age, and I have zero interest in anything Vauxhall produced after 1998 except the (Holden) Monaro, as mentioned. And possibly the (Lotus) VX220, although I'd have to rip the shitty V grille off it.

I can't quite put my finger on exactly why I hate them, so I suppose I can't rationalise it.

Maybe it's the Ssangyong-esque styling?

Or the fact that it seems to be the distillation of everything that's bad about soft-roaders.

It's probably the owners though. Most round my way seem to be driven by women who are self-titled "yummy mummies", who weave about because they're too busy looking at the "Princess on board" (or whatever other wank description of the child occupant the personalised version of a Baby on board sticker in the back window says).

And now it's summer they have their windows down, in the mistaken belief that the rest of the world wants to listen to their Take That, Leona Lewis, or Cheryl Cole CD.

I absolutely hate seeing these things on the road, and to make it worse they're probably dead reliable and will all last for ages.

At least when the French make a bad car you're fairly sure it'll have an early death.

I'll give this a think soon re cars, but I have to say that hating things like Picassos is not mutually exclusive with hating children and/or large families. In fact, that hatred can even be rational- there are far too many people around and the global population just keeps increasing.

Of course, personally I don't really have a problem with people having 3,4,5 or 17 kids- my hatred is directed at the environazis/gummints who have everyone convinced that citizens should be penalised (via taxes etc) for travelling by plane, driving an old and/or powerful car or doing a bit of water-intensive gardening but rewarded for producing other people who will then go on to be airline passengers or clog the streets up with yet more cars! How about letting everyone have their own environmental conscience- noo, that would require a bit of critical thinking and we can't allow people to do THAT!

When I was a car-mad infant, I remember my dad and I "designing" a car of the future which was egg shaped. The Picasso is that car!
