Anyone here want to save a '73 Hillman Avenger?

Belongs to a fella I know who bought it recently to restore it yet has decided to give someone else the chance to do so as he hasnt got the time.

Its a 1500cc 1973, M reg. and apparantly doesnt need that much doing to it, mainly welding to lower half n brakes etc.

The car is in Boston, Lincs. No idea how much he is asking for it.

If anyone is interested let me know and ill pass on the details. Be a shame if nobody wants it as then its likely to end up on the banger track. :(

If the shells solid then rallyists might interested, they're not bothered about paintwork, and they will stick a Zetec in it anyway.

What does he want for it?

Something about that car, it just looks really straight. Needs a clump of nettles sprouting from the O/S headlamp bucket though.

I can't see any reason to make any changes to the body apart from the welding, it looks excellent.

You see, it doesn't look excellent.

It looks fucked.

Although this look is possibly acceptable in somewhere like Texas where the sun will continue to fade the paint ad-infinitum and where it will never rain so the rust will stay on the surface. However here in the UK that look is a death sentence. The patina of surface rust will be right through within weeks if it stays like this & if we get another wet summer the whole car will be as rotten as a really rotten thing by September.

Just my pet hatred,
