Passed 1995.

Currently have 27 year old Fiesta XR2 and 21 year old Sierra Ghia. I can't nail down a direct equivalent for the Fiesta, but the Sierra would of course have been:

Splendid.

Not entirely sure if the Fiat 127 was around in 68, but that's the car Ford used as their benchmark/testbed for the Fiesta, so maybe that's your answer? The smallest Ford at the time was of course the Mk1 Escort, newly introduced, and a bit too big for this exercise.

I would imagine that a man in 1968 after a tiny quick car would have been beating down the door of a BMC dealership :)

Right I passed in 2006, so the 92 BX becomes a 1987 BX, the 72 Austin 1100 becomes a 1967 1100 and the 74 VW camper (late bay) becomes a 69 early bay.

Reel it back to 1981 when I was born we have a slight conundrum for the Citroen, 2cv based stuff is too small so I'll go for a base spec DS19 safari

pub04.jpg

The Austin would be from 1942, so Austin 10?

And the Dub, right German people carrier from 1944

There you go, spare wheel on the front and everything :D

'Kin 'ell this is gonna be difficult.....

right passed my test in 1979 and I use a 1989 P100 as my daily...

so the direct replacment would be.....a 1957 ford pick up ( can I have a Yank one please ) 8)

the back up car is a 74 Cortina estate so that would be a .........1942 Ford, did they do a V8 Pilot estate?

next is the winter motor, the EX Scooters 1989 Shogun V6, that would become......1957 Toyota Land cruiser, did they do one then?

her indoors has a 1988 Fiesta nad passed her test in 1981 so that would become a.....1959 Ford E93 Popular 8)

I'll add pics later :D

Jesus. Passed my test in '98 and had a 1961 Ford then which was already 40 years old! so it would have been something like a Model T or an A (T n' A  )

On topic. Currently got a T hotrod, an Anglia and her nearly new Pug (planning to drive that one into the ground - it'll be shite fairly quickly). Back in 98 that would be an 80 year old Ford, a 40 year old Ford and a 2 year old Pug estate:

80 year old Ford (1918). Wehey game on, same car!

1918_Ford_Model_T_Four_Door_Convertible.jpg

40 year old Ford (1960). As it goes, my first car in 1998 for £500 was actually a 1961 Ford Prefect just like this one but a bit scabbier...!

And a 2 year old Pug (1996) 406 barge. Rock-on tat hauler:

Ive watched back to the future countless times but i aint got a clue how this thread works?

Let's have a go at this then, I past my test back in 1997, My Current driver is a 6 year old Mondeo ST so I would have been driving a 1991 Sierra XR4x4 i think (No sporty diesel option back then).

4968312651_a8364a30b0_z.jpg

The Golf Cabriolet is from 1994, 17 years ago! , So that would mean I'd be in a 1980 Golf Cabriolet.

3102920910_5a7937a423_z.jpg

The Escort is 27 years old so that would mean a 1970 Escort 1300 L.

5469716340_0ffd4cd92c_z.jpg

As for the Kadett, Well that's 39 years old making it a 1958 model but the car wasn't made then (They started the "A" in 1962) So i guess it would have been a 1958 Opel Olympia Rekord.

Interesting idea for a thread. :D

Let's see...I currently have a top of the range 8 year old Nissan Almera dCi. I passed my driving test in January 1995 so it would be a 1987 B12 series Nissan Sunny like this:

images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQ_AVBoA3flvmaf-TZ3fo6ujuUuLI3wfPKbFLdNja9Z18GPhzkCBg

Although I think that there was a diesel in the range, it was the hopelessly slow 2.0 diesel available in base spec only. Perhaps it would have made sense for a 17 year old with zero NCB but I would have hoped that the top of the range 1.6 GSX (?) would be more befitting.

Not being in possession of any autoshite just now makes mine a bit dull:

Currently drive a 2004 Mondeo Ghia X Estate...

Passed my test in 1998 so here's a 1991 Sierra Ghia Estate.

3001608638_bf4789e4a6.jpg

Still 29 years younger than my first car which was a 62 Mini

Would gladly swap the Mondeo for a Sierra wagon though, especially a V6 4x4.

1989 Silvia Turbo an passed test in 2001. I guess a Bluebird 910 Coupe would be the neaest equiv, assuming UK market models

I passed my test in 1986.

My 1994 V6 Calibra poses a problem. The only 2-door coupe in GM's armoury in 1969 was the Opel GT:

OpelGT.jpg

But that's a 2-seater, not really the same thing. So ignoring the fact that neither of them came out until 1970, I reckon the direct equivalent would be either an Opel Manta A:

MantaA.jpg

Or a Vauxhall Firenza:

Firenza.jpg

My 1991 Maserati 222 SE becomes a 1966 Maserati Mexico:

MaseratiMexico.jpg

And my 1966 Land Rover Series 2a 109" becomes a 1941 Austin 15cwt:

Morris15cwt.jpg

I passed my bike test in 1989, so my 1981 Suzuki GSX1100 Katana would perhaps become a 1959 Manx Norton 500:

ManxNorton500cc.jpg

And my 1986 Honda CBX 750F would be something medium-sized from 1964 but I've no idea what.
