Final Plug for the E39 Touring

Right, just got back to UK and found that no-one has nicked it - damn these low insurance post-codes.

The battery is flat, and there is a slight oil leak from where Kwik-fit nudged a pipe when installing the new radiator in Jan. I am having it transported back to them to put right, and shove a new battery in. Them it will be driven back home, have its service history file neatened and tidied, it will be washed, emptied of our belongings, £20 of pez lobbed in and then available to drive away for the first person to bagsey it for £600.

~10 months MOT and taxed till end Oct.

Needs to be gone by 20th April. Available from as soon as the Kwikfit man repairs the oil leak.

1998 528i Touring, green, cream leather, auto, 185k, new brakes, rad, speed sensors x4, shocks, roll bars. A really pampered car.

two thirds of its proper value I reckon. If the Jag wasn't due back soon, I'd keep it. But the Rover 75 is now officially mine so it really has to go.

Can you wang the pics up again so I can show it to the keeper of the purse for approval.

It's a tad JUICY for my liking, and a little on the AUTOMATIC side really, but if it's got 'nuff T&T and goes well enough it might be a prospect, or at least a less irritating one then my tantrum-prone 3-er...

If you take it easy, 30-35 mpg is possible. I managed to convince my Missus that 40 was possible too. Easily achieved my getting up to 65 mph and resetting the computer when going downhill with cruise control on. My miles were mostly motorway miles and I 28.5 was the usual from Norfolk to London and back. Yup, it's auto, but has that manual mode too. Things to get clear at the outset: A/C works but needs regassing every year; and the secondary fan doesn't work so remember to switch it off when stationary. £360 for a new one, so opted for the switching on and off. I have smoked in this car. Proper matching spare wheel. One number plate lamp is on its last legs. CD player (multi) works. There is a reverb setting on the stereo!! No sunroof. I have slightly upgraded the headlamps (the pricey ones from Halfords). Dog guard works and is removable. The intermittent wiper setting timing adjustment doesn't work. Passenger cup-holder needs someone with a steady hand and a pair of tweezers to fix. 2 keys present. Here are some pics:

Agreed. It doesn't owe me anything having served me well for the last couple of years and I don't feel any need to claw any value back. I'd still keep it had the old man not needed a new home for the Rover. The money made from a sale will be put towards taking the Jag from 300bhp to ~400.

Obscene value.

If I was still car hunting I'd be on this even though its everything I wasn't looking for in a daily.

That is a seriously cheap car......and I went and bought a ragtop golf with a suspect gearbox....such is life. You won't have to try too hard to sell that I wouldn't think.

If I wasn't leaving the country soon I would probably have that.

Sorry that's not much help is it?!

What 75 are you getting CT? - Diesel or V6? An estate I guess?

Connoisseur 2.0 CDT in shock horror saloon guise. Green and auto though. Price = Free. 50k miles and like new all over. I am enjoying the economy, but still getting used to the lack of power.

I'm seriously fighting my dislike of BMW's here and I may lose!

Go for it T.

I've thought about it, but IF I do get a stopgap the Omega local to me just got 100 cheaper, so I think that's the way forward.

I swore after the 535 I had off Scooters that I would never have another Beemer but it is so tempting, I'm going to let some people know though

There was a worse looking example than this for sale recently (eBaY) I think with a knackered headgasket that was up to about £540 a day or so before the listing ended.
