2000 (W) Ford Fiesta 1.3 3dr for sale, £675

For sale, 2000 W Fiesta 1.3 3dr. The wife has owned this for a few months after inheriting it from her parents. We need to move it on as its only a 3 door and we have been offered an Astra estate which will make life alot easier with a small child and pushchair e.t.c!

Anyway, onto the car. Its a MK4 shape silver 3 door in pretty good order, a bit of crust on the rear arches but nothing too drastic at all (one arch needed welding for the last MOT) theres was also a bit of surface rust on the drivers A pillar behind a piece of rubber trim which I removed, treated and painted with a bit of silver hammerite (sounds a bit of a bodge, but its fine!) The rest of the car is very good, including the area around the filler cap. Apart from the odd very small dent there isnt really any body damage to mention-it still looks very smart.

Rear wiper works when it wants to, suspect dirty contact points between the tailgate and boot landing panel.

Interior is clean and tidy- recent front Michelin tyres, its sporting 13" Rover wheeltrims but these can be binned by the new owner if required!

99K mostly motorway miles on the clock but the 1.3 OHV engine purrs like a kitten, its a really nice engine! Regularly serviced- its been in the family for the last 5 years or so and was on 40k odd when first bought. 5 speed gearbox is fine too. There is a bit of viabration through the steering when braking, possibly warped discs, although the N/S/F wheel bearing was done for its MOT recently and the disc may have been put back on with some crud behind it or something- I will take a look at this when I get chance. Discs are mega cheap anyway!

Its a really nice car to drive, not the usual clapped out shitbox many fezzas seem to have become- cheap on fuel too (40+MPG). I have really enjoyed cruising around in this car, it always starts first time and has never let us down. The only problem its had ever is when the coil pack packed up when the inlaws owned it. Its the type of car I feel I could jump in and drive to north Scotland or Cornwall or somewhere equally distant. Its lovely!

Sounds about the right price for what it is, I don't want it though. Soz.

I'm not a massive expert on the value of "new" cars!

Seems like a good price to me, you shouldn't have any difficulty shifting a small economical car like that

Money seems about right tbh Tim. I'd stick it on PistonHeads and put it in Autotrader though, small cars are more poplier than ever at the moment for insurance and fuel reasons, and not just with new drivers.

I assume it has power steering by the way? If so make sure you mention that near the top of the advert (along with airbags if it has them) as kids and birds seem to see this a major buying point.

If you get five minutes pm all the details along with pictures and I'll bosch it up on some of the forums I use.

What's a German car components manufacturer got to do with posting a car for sale on forums?

1.3 "Crossflow" (really an HCS) Fiesta is a good wee car - I had two of them,an LX and a Ghia. Like Tim said, very good on fuel, and if you keep the valves adjusted properly, nice and quiet and smooth. They can be tweaked a little for buttons too. As Tim also mentioned, parts are dirt cheap. The rear wiper thing normally isn't a fault per se. The back of the car gets dirty easily, and on both my Fezzas a good old wash always sorted out the rear wiper not working. The only problem I had across the 2 cars was that the horn gave up on the LX. Can't comment on the rust, as both of my cars were fairly new. Oh aye, take the plugs out every few months, and put them back in. We all know that, I think!

Good luck with the sale, price sounds about right.

I'll sort some pics out in a bit- I have to go to the inlaws to upload them!

The engine really is a peach, it absolutely purrs with zero tappet noise- when driving it its hard to believe how old the design is. We're sad to be getting rid of this little fezza as its perfect car, 95% of the time- its just the other 5% when we need 5 doors when theres a problem!

BTW, it has got a drivers airbag AND power steering, too!

I'm worried that if people think a ginger has sat in the car, or been near it, they won't want to buy it. Hopefully this will have obscured him sufficiently to mask the problem!

If you can just change the picture to have that bloke wearing sunglasses and black wellies as he's smoking a large spliff I think you'd get more interest. Perhaps have a seagull plopping on him too and have him shaking his fist in a slightly annoyed manner.

Just had a look!

No, there is a single driven wheel in the middle between the front wheels. This wheel is also used for steering. The front wheels are not in contact with the ground and are infact made from fiberglass.. The advantage of this system is you can spin the steering wheel around and drive backwards, or sideways.

Tim, a mate of mine might well be interested in this. I've sent him the ad for his perusal. Would you have any doubts about it getting from Toast to the Smoke and then doing fairly regular commuting hauls twixt there and Somerset?

Posted

NIce car, looks clean. If anyone here does buy it I might be interested in the wheel trims. I may be picking up a car soon that wears those style trims.

Posted

I'd trust it to drive anywhere, infact, its great on a long run.

Would you swap it for an oil painting of a somewhat peturbed Robocop accidentally reversing his Taurus squad car over a giant marrow at the allotment?

Don't listen to him, they're just shoddy counterfeits. The real ones are worth much less than that.

How much T&T is on the robocop painting?
