Seeing that there is a lot of love for Minder on here I'd better share these

 

A few months back i bought the DVD box set which is GR8 i think, the other day about of a spot of sadism (and looking for the roadline truck for EL) i decided to get screenshots of the cars from the show, This is my efforts.

 

 

So were it all started each week, Terry's Mk 2 Capri 2000S, Of course now everyone wants the X pack Escort beside it!

 

 

This is what the street of London village looked like back in 1979.

 

 

Arthur's XJ6 with a Luton favoured back drop.

 

 

Back in the 70's the coppers drove Marina 1.3 Coupes with those little spoilers on the wiper blades.

 

 

I recognise the red stripes on this CF, is it an ex airline van?.

 

 

Real men drove vans with sliding doors back in 1979.

 

 

 

 

 

This A60 is fantasic, even down to the roof rack.

 

 

 

 

Cor, a Mk 1 Granada and Mk 2 Capri, stand off, i wonder who wins?.

We are into 1980 now, and this is what a man-about-town would go out shagging in. Maybe.

 

 

Terry's Capri has now turned into a Mk 1.

 

 

 

This Bronze Cortina crops up in quite a few different episodes as a background car.

 

 

This Cortina also had a few different roles in the show.

I know you haven't got that late yet but any spots of the Nissan Prarie that seemed to appear in most episodes circa 1984? Was metallic blue and had PRARIE written in huge white letters on a black background IIRC. I probably last saw an episode of Minder about 10 years ago so this might be bollocks.

Yep i know the one you mean, You description is spot on, It seems to pop up a lot, I haven't got a screen shot of it yet as it's not very clear in many shots.

I've been watching Minder for a while now, I really need to get myself the DVD box set. I came across a so-called "Umbrella" set on Ebay, which included anything that was anything to do with Minder, whole set was up for someting like £500.

That's the same set as I've got, I'm sure mine was about £35, every episode including the specials as well.

No, I know the ones you pointed out can be picked up for between £20 and £50.

 

An "Umbrella" set includes every episode ever made including the later episodes (with Ray Daley) special episodes and some unscreened 1986 episode "A little give and take" (A shorter drugs awareness episode that was soley aimed at teenagers/schools) and hours of interviews with many who made/appeared in Minder.

 

Apparently "Umbrella" is some sort of DVD producing outfit from Australia. I dont know much about it apart from that and that they seemingly command a huge price.

I've got an Umbrella DVD of the quite excellent if slightly cheaply made Aussie film Malcolm (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0091464/). Honda Z 'getaway car' action ftw!

 

 

Was less than a tenner off Amazon a couple of years ago and came from Germany I think. Does sound bizarre that all they had access to all the extra bits when the 'official' Minder boxset doesn't.

 

On another note, why can I remember a Nissan Prarie from a 25+ year old TV show I haven't seen in years yet sometimes get my wedding anniversary date wrong? (and I was only married in 2009....)

Very good, so the question is, how did the white Capri SLE71R change from a mark 2 to a mark 1.

 

On the back of the Cortina below the bumper, there is a rectangular GB sticker, I'm sure that these were used by Ford for their own cars.

Fab stills Trig I'm trying hard to recognise anywhere but other than the one with the raised bit of the A40 (?) perhaps somewhere near White City I don't. I guess it was mostly filmed in the West.

Very good, so the question is, how did the white Capri SLE71R change from a mark 2 to a mark 1.

 

The general consensus on some Minder forums a few years back is that the Mk2 was completely Donald Ducked by Terry in some way, and either Des or Arthur sorted him out with a ringer.

 

As for the drugs awareness episodes, they're on YouTube. So no need for the mega-bucks box-set, as they're the only thing missing from the set posted on here by Tayne.

The garage under the arches is immense, I wonder if they were some sort of specialist 'foreign car' breakers, there seems to be a high proportion of euro-shite there. I'm always showcked just how much European stuff there was around back then compared to how little survives now.

It may have been mentioned already ,have not read the whole thread, so sorry if it has, but that was the car that Terry was supposed to use in the series.Someone decided it was too up market and he got an older capri! I owned an x pack RS2000 custom, in the minder days, don't know if mine, or the minder one are still on the road.I may be able to find out, will post if i do.
