Nice, looks clean as a whistle.

For some reason the stubby little indicator/wash wipe stalks really irritate me on these! Just looking at them makes me want to snap them off!

I am odd.

Will this be the car to convert you to the oval blue badge? maybe a change of username to Spottedescort maybe?.

It does look pretty tasty in the photos, I'm quite a fan of these having a dad who had a few as a child and one myself.

Looks a wonderfully clean car.

I'd love to take it and use it as a daily, sadly money/space and the hopefully possible Sterling resurrection stop me from doing so.

I was surprised at the decent economy and (just) sub-10sec 0-60 they're capable of.

New Fiesta Zetec S - 0-60 in 9.9 sec! There's progress!!!!

Looks a lovely old thing SL

I remember having one of these as a courtesy car and being impressed by the space, good visibility all round and general simplicity of the interor. I liked the stubby indicators as well!

That looks like £1495+ to me on Classic Cars for Sale with all the bits done. Or - do all the bits and leave it with a classic car dealer to put a silly price on and see what happens. But there should be a nice drink in that. Where else would you find one?

Coincidentally that is exactly what I did once (indicator I think it was). Had to buy a replacement unit.

Seeing the interior shots brings back memories. :) SpottedLaurel, does that one have central locking? IIRC c/l was fitted to GL models from 1987/8 onwards. Mine was a 1986 model so it missed out on that.

Here is my old 1.4 GL that I owned between 1997 and 1999 when it was scrapped. Bask in it's beauty with it's colour coded wheel trims and orange stripe. 8)

Not sure about the C/L, when I got there all the doors were unlocked and I didn't have cause to lock it up myself. It seems unusual for the vendor to have unlocked all the doors just for me to have a look, so perhaps it does have it? It has a sunroof, but I don't know at that time whether they were standard or an option (my '87 brochure says the latter). I was a bit disappointed to see it didn't seem to have the quick-clear windscreen.

Hoping to go and pick it up next weekend, more news on it then.

That's nice, well worth the money and in Wedgewood Blue as well.

A 1.6, one of my earliest memories of that engine with a manual gearbox was when the Orion first came out. Ford pushed it upmarket when released and was only available in GL trim and above. We had one in and were using it as a runner (car rental speak for a car that was booked out on a depot business non productive movement ticket), my manager was driving and when she pulled out of a junction wound it up to 40mph in first gear.

The E-reg 1.6 GL me and Vic had for a bit had central locking and a sunroof.

That's really nice, I'd love to get my hands on that engine bay with the valeting kit!

A very honest and clearly cared for Escort, which if it wasn't for a pending house move (empty wallet...) I'd be tempted by that myself. A bargain price. I'd personally be happy to just live with those few battle scars it has.

Our old next door neighbour had a Galaxy Blue 'E' reg GL from almost new and had it until around 2003ish. I'm pretty sure that had central locking. It was still knocking around with another local owner for a few years after that, but by then it was pretty much battered and ready for the great scrapyard in the sky.

Wedgewood Blue - a fabulous colour, once quite popular, that you just don't see around any more. My father had one in a MK5. The closest colour that's come to it since then was Vauxhall's Aruba Blue of about ten years ago. They only sold in relatively small numbers though and was quickly discontinued. Shame really.

Is this one defo Wedgewood Blue?? I thought it was Maritime Blue...had a D plate Mk2 Fezza that was Maritime and looked very similar.

Agreed, if I was lucky enough to own it I would leave the odd battle scars....they give it character.

I was just going to ask the same question, Maritime blue is a possibility for the colour. But i think it may have been slightly lighter in shade??

Should go well, thats the same 1.6 CVH fitted to the later mk2 Fiesta XR2's, and they went very well. (though not quite as well as the earlier ones with the bigger carb)

ENJOY!! 8)
