Looking good. As always the management are leading by example.

Funny, I'd seen those pics on Mr.H's FB page but without context hadn't known that several of the carefully constructed location photoshoots were infact necessitated by a 'failure to proceed'..... :D

did you know the Simca 1000 also came as an Abarth version 1150 with 6 speed gearbox

Lovely looking car and some lovely shots there.

Excuse me for flaunting my ignorance but what is MIA? All I can find on google are references to the Meetings Industry Association and an Artist

Hello Shiters,

Well it's been a long time since I've posted on here. Have I missed anything?

Despite the occasional lurk I've been way busy, but things are calming down and the ebaytat part 2 thread has been getting monitored a lot of late. Major late 70s Vauxhall/Opel wantage occurring from my end.

So now the time has come to let someone else take charge of the Simca 1000 Special. She's going up on t'bay tomorrow night on a 10 dayer (unless anyone wants first dibs on it?).

She's Taxed and tested for 2 more months (tax exempt) but the battery is flat, and the timing is out and needs some fettling. Currently parked outside Mr H Sceptre's place in Leicester where she's been living all summer.

Anyway apart from that hope everyone's well and having fun. Got tons of spots to update on here in due course, and I mean a lot.

Howdy DW, not sure really.

Bought 1 year ago on ebay for £850 with no MOT. Subsequently paid £500 to get it through the MOT, although that was a mates rates price due ot the number of hours spent welding her up properly underneath plus fitting a new fuel tank.

Then I spent £250 this summer getting the carb completely reconditioned plus other fettling.

Now she needs more fettling but I don't think if i spent more money that I'd get it back. if I had the time/proper knowhow I'd do ithe timing work myself, but instead it'll probably be an easy task for the new owner.

So this car owes me a whopping £1,600 already so I know I'll be taking a big hit on what's been spent.

Speres = VERY easy to get hold of. There's a really good network of enthusiasts in the Uk with tons of new for old stock of everything. Don't forget they made something like 2.3 million of these cars back in the day!

I know I will REALLY regret selling it one day, forever in fact, but I just never get to see the car hardly, as it's in Leicster and I'm down south driving the Audi 100 as a daily all the time. Winter's coming and she's sitting outdoors and should really be taken off the road and undercover, also only 1 month's MOT left and theres fettling required to make her roadworthy again. I've fallen out of love with her and one day woke up and just thought "right, time to moe on to the next car". So she's going to have to go.

To part fund some sort of Leboncoin jaunt to get the next French beauty! Ideally another addition to the ever growing collectors of Renault 16s on here!

Here's my Simca now on ebay:

I know exactly how you feel :( , Good luck with the sale though, I shouldn't have thought you'll too much trouble shifting it on.

Thanks Trig, you're pining for the Opel already then?

Yeah a bit, The truth is i fancied a change so lopped it on ebay to see what i got for it, after 27 days the ebay adverted ended so i decided to hang on to it for a bit longer.

Then i get this phone call of a guy who was really keen and i saw £££ signs, I sold it for £500 profit but now i can't find anything that fits the bill for the money i sold it for, seems like £2300-2500 only buys you crap and MG's these days.

Mind you the new owner of the Kadett is now on my facebook and keeps me updated with whats happening to it, the dynamo has already packed up and he soring a alternator conversion as well as planing on removing the engine and repainting the engine bays so at least it's being looked after.

Or a delightful little Simca and lots of fuel money...

It'll definitely fit in your garage! They go quite well too...

I'm shocked Trig you can't find anything decent in that budget?? I can think of loads of cars in the PC Price Guide in Condition 1 for under £3k. Mind you nearly all are extinct so you'd be waiting a while.

Yes M'coli that is a Sera on the driveway, a mate of a mate of mine & H Sceptre's owns it. Been off the road for 6 years. Definitely worthy of recommissioning!

Saddo Alert....

I am currently mocking up a Simca Rallye2, card cut-out model - so I can pop it off with my Colour Printer - and I have lots of body shots to check the lines.

Mine won't have 'realistic' style bootprints in the roof. Gr8 car... envy you getting to run about [err... sometimes] in it.

Not in the position to have 'high maint' vehicles these days... Oh, to be young & broke  ... but I really enjoyed my IMPing.

Better with the 4doors, personally :P
