The very first ever BL Wedge, a Morris 1800 chassis 101, is up 4 grabs. It's very rusty. And it's free.

I rescued this from a scrapyard in around 1995/6 and sold it to Nick Larkin for 100 quid. It's very rusty. Make no mistake, it's utterly borked but do-able. I think it's in Bourne, Lincs but don't quote me.

It's very rusty.

Nick also bought from me a pre-prod prototype 'Cess, a white Morris 1800 base model KJO350N. That was a very easy 'tidy up' resto 13 years ago, I doubt it's much worse now but I've no idea if he still has it, or will keep/restore it.

Nick's number is 07950 643065

I'm surprised this is still available, I thought it was advertised on aronline about six months ago?

Pretty sure Nick (is he a member on here?) still has the white Morris as I saw a picture of his Cambridge in CCW about a year ago with his barn full of buses in the background - there was definitely something white and wedge-shaped in there...

I'm sure i remember reading about this years ago in Popular Classics i think it was, It was one of these stories which stick in your head, Is it white?.

No but he did have/has a pre-production white Wedge as well. This one is orange and as the Rev says, very rusty. I remember reading about it in Popular Classics too (small world eh?)

Was this on eBay once in a scrappy being offered for parts, seem to ring a bell?

Anyhow hope to God it gets saved, go on Torsten you know you want to!

Doubt it Cav - as said, the Rev saved it in 1996/7 and Mr Larkin is not really one to be selling on Ebay (though he did recently buy a Rover P6 in Scotland via the auction site - we obviously helped by egging him on in the office...). Nick certainly wouldn't offer it for parts which is why it's still for sale - he'd want to be pretty careful about who had it.

Ideal for Mr Bollox I reckon - the Landcrab was a mere hors d'ouvre!!

I think the Wedge on Ebay was a Wolseley that was subsequently offered as a complete car. Not sure if it was saved in the end.

I hope nobody's going to abuse having Nick Larkins mobile number and putting a blag ad on Ovalchat offering an A55... 8)

Iv'e seen pics of this, and its very rusty!

I've heard about this and I'd very much like to save it, I might give Nick a call but I just know it will be a massive task. Trouble is I have no skills and happy I'm that way, might just be time to call in some favours!

If all you do is give it a dry garage for another 10 years, you'll have done enough.

No, it's fucked. The HighDragAss had long gone down and it smoked like a bastard.

I wonder if the guy who collects/restores these has seen it? I bet he's got a nervous twitch for such an early one.

Posted

Sounds like it really needs a re-shell, but then it wouldn't be the first anymore, would it?

Well I've left a message, I have though of a plan although it would depend on my begging skillz and the huge generosity of others...might involve me finding religion too

I'd love it, but I don't think I have the patience to do all the welding it needs without being distracted halfway through by the ENDLESS, BLATANT CHEAP LASCIVIOUS EURO TAT which is WHORED DAILY on Leboncoin, and i'd end up hating it cos I could not be arsed to finish it, yet would not want to give it to the next guy after having invested hundreds of hours in its sills, arches and valences (and somehow it still looked like a hideous pile of scrap sitting in my workshop).

Has it now got a handbrake and seats? (long story)

I wouldn't think an 18/22 shell would be bad to rebuild - thery're very simple and don't suffer boot floor/inner wing rot. Panels are cheap too - sills, front wings, rear arches, used bolt on panels etc.

It's an HL iirc as well - pure luxury.

I remember reading about both of these Wedges in Popular classics. I recall that the white Morris was only suffering from a ragged sill and bent exhaust from where it had been lifted from its resting place which was a 'squashy' Granada. I als remember the orange one which Nick described as 'one very sick Wedge'.

It would be nice both at least preserved.

I've a feeling the orange one has headed off to another journo, but can't remember who. That one was a proper dustpan job!
