Yes - very unusual for Czechoslovakia. Although the Czechs did import some western brands (in fact more than any other bloc country I think) they were from Europe, the Toyota must have been quite exotic.

Could well be. My Mk 1 estate was LUU 139D, think earliest Mk 2's were E reg. Dad had an F reg estate in (peeling) Silver Fox.

There are pictures of several D reg Mark 2 Cortinas on Flickr.  It was launched in October 1966 and any cars registered before the end of that year would be D reg.
