A year before mine, 1969 my first car bought a month after I passed my driving test for £32 and 10 shillings. An absolute shed apart from having a recently fitted gold seal reconditioned engine and a new mot.

Coincidently I passed my test in a Triumph Herald.

        Wheelbase: 79.5 inches
        Length: 136.5 inches

    Triumph Herald :
        Wheelbase: 91.5 inches
        Length: 152.99 inches
        Width: 60 inches
        Height: Approximately 52.01 inches

It is the height that gives the optical illusion it is larger.

Delboy's was a Reliant Supervan III,  i.e. the van version of the Reliant Regal 3-30 saloon.  The later Reliant Robin had a different chassis, body and interior and a 750cc engine (the Regal 3-30's was 701cc).   Later still, the Robin had 850cc.  

The car with the  bonnet open does appear to be a Ford Taunus 17m P5 (possibly a 20m) but I can't see the distinctive suspension strut bracing pressings in the rather grainy, pixelated photo.
