Thinking is dangerous, don't do it! :D

Engine mods: why? It'll be perfectly adequate round town, and you surely weren't thinking of using it as a motorway hack, were you?

Total wrap: why? Unless you want it as an advertising tool for your business, leave it as-is, you want notice of where the rust is going to appear. Being an old Fiat, there's no uncertainty about that, it's only a question of when. :(

Get her sorted: well yes, you want to know things like the brakes work, obviously. MoT, chug around a bit until you're happy with reliability, then press her into daily use. And forget where your local petrol station is! :D

A few gentle mods can't hurt. A couple more bhp probably makes a big difference! As long as you don't slam it and fix the rear wheels so they look like they've snapped off it'll be fine!

A few more bhp when you start with about 20 something does really make a difference!

Absolutely - as I said, a 2mm head skim works wonders, it raises the compression on the early ones from 7.5 to 1 to about 9.5 to 1. I did this to mine in 1992 and while it didn't transform it into a hot-rod, it meant that it could keep up with traffic better. Mine was a C-reg with one of the later engines that started out at 8:1 with a better combustion chamber shape, but I'd got an older head from the scrappy to skim and had to compromise with that. Shame about the rust!

Just remember to carry spare condensers, I found the wires always broke off through vibration from the engine!

Just remember to carry spare condoms

I didn't realize that they were babe magnets as well !

Of course they are!!!!!!!! Have you seen how cute they are?

Wonderful little cars! A teacher friend of mine used to buy a new one every three years in the late seventies/ early eighties. Three of us would pile in once a week for a trip to Asda to get our weeks shopping..I can't remember how we crammed everything in to be honest.

The last one she bought was in 1984, a 'B' reg but after that she succumbed to a trade in for a new Uno which didn't quite have the same character. :(

AND HERE SHE IS ON THE WAY HOME!PICT1026.jpgPICT1025.jpgPICT1014.jpg126ontrailer1210.jpg And pics of the underneath, she runs an absolute treat too :DPICT1004.jpgPICT1022.jpgPICT1006.jpg

Forgot to add that the gap in between the trailer floors is 36 inches and the track to inside of tyres is 43 ish inches so was fun fun fun

Nice work, these were pretty much constantly ridiculed in my teen era, admittedly I thought they were quite shit too but I was even more of a twat back then.

Am well chuffed so far as went out to show a mad mate and she fired up straight away, no smoke, undue noises and no oil leaking out the bottom, is this a record? Think the XR3I may go to the back of the queue as cant wait to get the p*ss ripped out of me when I drive the 126 for the first time :D

Eaglesham, been off the road since 1997. I've been recently reminded it's still sitting there... need to get a trailer and somewhere to put it first... then I can be just like Steve Austin, only with a shitter Polish built, non-running, water cooled 126...

Nice one Mr Austin. Looks Good 8)

This is mine. One of the last of the air-cooled before the BIS came along. Currently hibernating in my Sister's garage.

Also spares shouldn't be a problem as a lot of stuff is available, but absolutely everything is available for them via these guys in Germany - Axel Gerstl http://webshop.fiat500126.com/?&

I had mine resprayed by a mate of a mate in Yeadon, near Leeds, and he told me that in the Seventies a local taxi firm had 2 white 126 on their fleet in order to transport Jimmy Saville around. Whether it's true I don't know, but I like the sound of it.:lol:

If you find somewhere to put it I have access to a trailer.

I love your 126, one of my all time favourite car types.

Sadly though, given my bulk I fear that any attempt to drive one myself would result in me looking like a was wearing a metal body warmer.

A mate of mine had one of these years ago, a special edition called the..... 'Brown'. It was so named, because it was painted metallic brown from the factory.

Think ultimately the fire brigade practised their roof-chop skills on it.

Would loved to have booked a cab with that firm on new years eve to get me home as I weigh more than the car and in an inebriated state would pay money to try and get in the back

Believe me, when I get the nerve up to try and drive her it will be akin to wearing spray on jeans, will post a pic of me next to the car when I get the balls :oops:

A sad confession.

My PC wallpaper is the red 126 wikipedia picture, the one with Polish plates parked on a forest road.

Hope you didn't catch the edge of that the cat litter tray and flip it over when you stepped back to admire your handy work.

Ha ha ha, well spotted! The cat loves sleeping in the boot or on the back seat!
