:D I know its early but we are sorting a car run for classic cars in May 2011, you dont have to use a classic car, use any car, bike , trike, van, lorry. the entry fee will be 8 pound per car .This will be passed on to a soldiers charity. The run will be about 50 miles long, with stops on the way, its not a race, the cars will finish at a place of interest. More details at a later date, cheers guys. :D

Again, kinda depends where it is and what car I have by then

:D Hi guys, Run will be on the 8th may,the start point will be sorted at a later date. We will start the run from the place we get the most entries from. You will receive a certificate at the end of the run. There should be a large turnout. I can give you guys all the info nearer the time. we have done this run before and we all had a great time. :D:D:D

I'd be interested as well but like the others said it depends where it is, If it's miles away i wouldn't bother.

Can I come in my Yue Loong Feeling? I've just finished fitting a sequentially turboed RB25DET to it. It shits on everything short of a McLaren F1. It's so fit, I might have just done a yoghurt explosion.

The location's too vague: statisticly you should get the most replies from the soft south, which would mean that the rest of us will sack it off and be most upset at the south-east bias.

So why not have multiple start points, and multiple runs? Then we wouldn't have such disquiet and apathy.

Sorry...am I missing something?

A Classic Car Run next May but you don't need a classic ...just turn up in anything.

Ford Ka?

Peugeot 307?

I'll just drive round the M25 twice, thanks :?

The M25's too far South for me. Could you not go round the "Wakefield Ring" instead? It's closer to me, and I could cancel at short notice with less guilt if you did...........

Hi, I'm going to organise an event of some description for one day in the future. All for an charity. Who's in?

If you get any entries before you've even nominated possible start points, I'll be most surprised. I lived in the north-west; there was no point in me entering for such a run only to find it started in Kent! Not everyone can drag a 6.4 litre V8 around the country on-spec. Now if I'd been invited to such a run beginning in Preston, well that might be more like it. And if it's "a run for classic cars" (your very words) then please, keep it as such. Classics might not come out every day; the ordinary stuff you can see from your bedroom window, so don't mix them.

Of course you could just put your eight quid in the Poppy Appeal box...

My contribution to the Poppy Appeal has already been to Afghanistan once, and goes again in April.

London start then. So possibly a congestion charge to pay as well.

I'm not knocking the idea, but there needs to be a well thought out route etc. before anyone could commit. Have a think, then by all means come back to us.

How about a run TO London/nearby, with multiple start points? It could be a regularity run, with the (legal) time it should take you to get to the finish point as your target. That removes the need to sort out a start point - you'd just start from home or, (probably better) some point a local car club could all meet up. Every entry could have a predicted finish time, with whoever's closest being the nominal 'winner'.

How about the end point being the Ace Cafe? Brooklands? Goodwood? Brands Hatch? Somewhere similar with a car connection?

Gaydon would be best, with multiple start points, and there's a BL museum at the end of it, and we could cannbalise the cars on display so we could at least get home.....

nice idea but too vague on start point - driving a classic several hundred miles to a run requires planning and money and preperation - if you said - start point in Newcastle - I could be interested - if you said Kent - I wouldn't!

Yes, very good, there is a lot of work to put in on a run this size, If I said theres a run next monday, people would say, oh no you have told us to late, this way I can post details and it will give people plenty of time to say ,yes or no.

Nope. He states 8th May.

The reason I am posting this now is to give people notice that a car run will take place in May next year.As I post details of the run ,there will still be plenty of time for you guys to say yes or no.I would like to say that I make no money at all from this run, in fact it costs me money. All I am trying to do is let people know that there will be a run.I have to sort paperwork, start, finish, maps, And this will be done after xmass,so as we sort it I will post it.

Are you going, Albert?

How the fuck do I know if I'm going? It might start in Penzance so that's a no. It might start in John O'Groats and that's a no. If it starts in Sheffield and a round trip back, then highly likely. Thing is, "driving a classic" is something I do every day. On weekends I like a break from it!

Perhaps it's best if we all pretend we live in or near Chester?

all seems a bit vague to me, give us more details and then we can make an informed decision

Look, I have some experience of this sort of thing. You may well have a good idea here, but if you can't even give people a rough start and finish point, an idea of what the run will entail, and a date, you've got a non-starter on your hands. You've given people precisely no information.

If you're not in a position yourself where you've got a pretty good idea of what you'll be doing, if not necessarily all of the precise details of the entire event, you're not in a position to put out a teaser. You'll get pretty much the response you have. Nobody can say YES or NO because you've given them NOWT to say YES or NO to.

Why not come up with a bit more of a plan and try again - you might get a better response and make a few quid for charity. As it stands, I'm not sure you will.

The reasonI posted this was to give notice that there is a car run coming up,christmas is coming up, but I dont know what I am getting, We have had 2 runs in the last 3 years and they were a great success, I am a member of three car clubs, and I know that there are around a 140 cars that will go now. Thing is I dont need grief trying to help someone, It would have been nice if people said, yeah let us know when and where and we will let you know. Anyway I tryed, that all I can do.
