Negative Creep Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 A new model Danny Dyer has been spotted testing. This new model represents a move upmarket for the brand and will utilise soft touch materials. It will offer a range of petrol and diesel engines shared with another manufacturer with Macpherson struts on the front and a torsion bar rear to increase bootspace. Official figures reveal it will be slightly wider and longer than the outgoing model with an increase in kerbweight. Dyer is expected to hit showrooms this spring
CreepingJesus Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 ^The Zakspeed 1.4 was a bit special, so to say. Home grown twink head, injected, all steel bottom-ended screamer. The 6R4's engine was 6/8ths of a Rover V8, tweaked by Williams tho', wasn't it? Never did understand the logic in that one. I'd be interested to know who the mystery German tuners are.Group B was to be replaced by Group S. Basically, the manufacturers could do what they wanted - effectively carte blanche. 1.5L forced induction, 3L naturally aspirated; it had to look a bit like a production car, but there were no minimum numbers for the base car. So, essentially, prototypes and one-offs were ok. Lancia got off the blocks quickly with a Group S Delta; armed with a detuned Ferrari F1 turbo engine (about 750 bhp, IIRC), and built properly, unlike the cobbled-together Breadvans. I'm sure Toivonen tested it, and liked it a lot.MG Rover had a variant of the 'EXE' prototype, running a 1.5L turbo; developed in conjunction with Williams, and with an interesting 'new' axial-vane turbo from ABB. (It wasn't really new - ABB actually held the patents for such a design, apparently since the 1920's, but had never put the idea to use in that way)Rumours abounded about Ford building something not unlike the RS200, with a Cosworth DFV in it. Serious stuff, and a shame the hasty canning of Group B put paid to it. Rallying's not been the same since. Fact.
ashmicro Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 Pfakt: I once worked for ABB, here: Nowt to do with turbos, though. Well sort of, it was gas turbines.
Station Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 My mate's dad had a blue Cortina circa 1987. My mate and his sister spent most of the summer holiday in France peeling the copper heat strips from the rear window, much to the chagrin of the fatha.Once, when I was in the car on a journey when the car was proving troublesome, the mother quoted 'This car is a right heap'. To which the pissed off father replied, 'Thanks, I really needed that'. The car was traded in for a brown F reg Metro, which could only travel up the hill towards their house in reverse.
Rocket88 Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 All Danny Dyers in "shock manufacturers recall" story. Apparently, the part of the ECU that controls the exhaust emmisions, will, under certain circumstances, revert to Bob Hoskins mode, and then fail completely.
Cavcraft Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 We have a big telly because we live on a council estate. I think it's like the law or something.

M'coli Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 I bought a copy of Playboy once, it had wonderful articles on cars, politics and world affairs, but did nothing for my libido.
Guest Leonard Hatred Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 I imagine diesels could suck donkey cock, the induction on them is quite impressive.
