Pete-M Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Just figured it might be an idea to have a separate thread for this kinda thing.
scaryoldcortina Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 The MK5 cortina was actually a facelifted cortina mk IV, and was titled "Cortina 80" by ford.
Timewaster Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Motoring factoids or general stuff? If its general then I will offer my current favorite trivia: Bullseye ( the Jim Bowen original ) had different music over the closing credits depending if the contestants won the star prize or not. Winnarz got a jolly upbeat version of the tune but if it was "look at what you could have won" it was slower, less jingly and generally more downbeat. Check it out on Challenge tv!
pompei Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 I might be imagining this but is there a car which has a longer wheelbase on one side?
scaryoldcortina Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Oh, it's like that 99% of gargoyles look like Bob Todd.
scruff Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 vvv - sorry Seth. Factoid: Rover had a four-door Range Rover prototype on the road a decade before they launched the (identical) production car.
seth Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 C'mon! Car stuff! I might be imagining this but is there a car which has a longer wheelbase on one side? Renault 4 I think it is?
Mr H Sceptre Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 I might be imagining this but is there a car which has a longer wheelbase on one side? Renault 16.
seth Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Ah, I thought it was a Renault. Its because of the arrangement of the torsion bars across the car or something isn't it.
Mr Lobster Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 A few Renaults of the '70s or thereabouts - R4, 5, 16 come to mind. Fact - Nobody knows who invented spectacles.
ProgRocker Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 'CPL 593H' referenced in Roxy music's 'Remake/Remodel' opening track from the debut album was the reg plate of Bryan Ferry's Mini Clubman.
Pete-M Posted November 2, 2010 Author Posted November 2, 2010 Fiddlers Ferry Way near Widnes often has the signs altered to read Bryan Ferry Way. This makes me chuckle.
ProgRocker Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Fiddlers Ferry Way near Widnes often has the signs altered to read Bryan Ferry Way. This makes me chuckle. Excellent!
scaryoldcortina Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 The vauxhall victor "101" was so named because there were supposed to be 101 improvements over the outgoing FB model.
George-Roper Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 The AMC Pacer had one longer door than the other.
Richard Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 A factoid isn't actually a fact, in the same way a cuboid isn't quite a cube and a humanoid isn't quite a human. Steve Wright doesn't look like his R2 picture, he's massively overweight and is going to die soon. That's a fact, not a factoid. Oh, and he's a cunt. Another fact.
Guest Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 During the chariot scene in 'Ben Hur' a small red car can be seen in the distance. Steve Wright doesn't look like his R2 picture, he's massively overweight and is going to die soon. GOOD His stupid comments wont be missed.
Rusty Pelican Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Jensen FF was the first four wheel drive , non off road car
scaryoldcortina Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 The google streetview car killed Bambi. On five points road....
warren t claim Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Just because of this thread I think we may need to put another 32K RAM pack on the back of the Autoshite server for when Eccentric Dicky logs back on.
RedSparrow Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Please remove all references to Steve Wright immediately.
Mr H Sceptre Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Pop/Staionary FACT Mike Nesmith, guitarist with The Monkees (& then singer with the excellent First National Band) owns the patent to liquid paper/tipex.
oldford Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 A piece of string is twice as long as half of its length.
barrett Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 thought a folding tin-top counted as convertable? or do you mean the wind (which looks more like a targa top...) This comment over on the Windgate thread made me remember reading the other day that 'Targa' is a trademark owned by Porsche and no other cars with a removable roof panel can officially be called Targa tops. I may have actually read that on autoshite, so sorry if i'm just repeating something everyone else already knows. I thought it was interesting though.
warren t claim Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Audi is latin for listen And Volvo is latin for "I roll".
scaryoldcortina Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Pajero is south american spanish slang for wanker
