Got cheap motah for a girl, now broken?

Friend-ess of mine, has managed to blow her Astra up, and needs something else.

My brief is: Cheap (£600ish max), ready to go - no fixer-uppers, dog friendly, not fussed if petrol or diesel - but I'm thinking diesel will be preferable, she lives on the cambridgeshire fens, and her mum lives in Essex.

So far I'm thinking Escort/Astra hatch or estate, like these:

Currently £400, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... K:MEWAX:IT

or this!B5zqRs!B2k~$(KGrHqYOKiYEyCR!VnMvBMvErnYwQ!~~_12.JPG

currently £310http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220684420024&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Megane Scenic? Good idea? Mondeo?

Anyone got anything they want to sell? Or have any recommendations?

Cheers.

Where abouts in Cambs? I spotted a Mk3 Astra estate on the A10 at Little Thetford (where there is often tat for sale) at £350.

I cant tell you any more than that except its a lateish one with alloys and is in that odd purple colour that early Corsas seem to come in.

I'll see if I can spot the reg. tommorow

She's in Chatteris, in the middle oof fecking nowhere.....which is why she needs a motah!! If you can get a few details on that Astray that'd be GR9, cheers.

I haven't got anything constructive to say, but I'm slightly drunk and can't let a mention of Chatteris go by without a bit of HMHB... enjoy!

I have* a Cadillac Seville 5.7 V8 diesel, is that any good?

I do not know of a suitable vehicle currently available, so I will suggest a litany of vehicles that fit neither the specification as defined, the stated available budget or any geographical bearing upon the situation. They will all be vehicles I quite like though, so that will make it OK.

There's a Mk3 Disastra at my son's work for £200. Going from a quick look (and I mean quick) and the boss's description here's what I've garnered:

Red, five door, 'loads of MOT' , 'N' reg I think and 1.6. Has a dent in the o/s/r arch plus some filler-able holes in the same and the other side. He says it drives great and I'm pretty certain it'll have power steering.

Only potential fly in the ointment is that it's on raspberry tax so she'll need to take a trip to the local DVLA office.

Can try and get pictures but won't be until Friday at earliest I reckon. It's near Ellesmere Port in Cheshire and very close to the M56 and M53.

back to this thread; Escrote got won, delivered, and driven. Everybody happy.

Until tonight.

Get a call, it's making a funny noise, RAC called, and appears to be very little water in it. After topping up, the nice man in the orange van says "I'm calling relay, it's knackered". But unfortunately didn't elaborate.

I was under the (possibly misguided) impression that dizzles can take lack of fluids better than a petrol. Theoil apparently is ok. Is it dead? Anyone know a cheap mechanic in Chatteris, Cambridgeshire?
