warren t claim Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 What is the autoshite view on these? Are they a fun way to experiencing the open road without having to wear a helmet or just ridden by junior pikeys working their way up to a Mitsu Warrior? Where I live there seems to be dozens of these being (badly) ridden miles away from any countryside.
Cavcraft Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 Definately the 2nd option, though there are some people who ride them who appear sensible. Alas they seem to be mostly chav chariots, ridden by tattoed skinheads with no shirt on.
pogweasel Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 What about this sort of thing?I really quite fancy one of these just to blezz about in.
Guest Leonard Hatred Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 Noel Edmonds would like you to buy a Q pod please.
Pillock Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 I was thinking more these things Used to be loads round here, basically we're semi in-the-sticks so young lads favoured them on the roads so if the rozzers got interested, wang it across a field into the woods and you're home before the chopper has been scrambled. So yeah. All driven/ridden by shirtless wankers who will quite happily pretend they own the road, despite their quad providing approximately zero protection when I drive over them.
Station Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 They're like bikes, only they're shit, noisy, crap on corners and pointless.
warren t claim Posted September 4, 2010 Author Posted September 4, 2010 I think we need a public information film to explain the dangers of these things. Featuring Ozzy Osbourne. Or Rik Mayall.
PatrickMcRebel Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 They're like bikes, only they're shit, noisy, crap on corners and pointless.
eddyramrod Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 What about this sort of thing?I really quite fancy one of these just to blezz about in. These are available to rent all over Paphos, we tried one last year. It's a bit of fun round town, but useless on the open road, and there's no security for anything you're carrying. As for quads, they're also available to rent here but the privately-owned ones are all driven by teenage maniacs who have no wish to see the morning.
Alexg Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 Pikey holiday rental style death trap... I'd like to rag one
Richard Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 Completely pointless- more dangerous than a bike but less fun.
Albert Ross Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 A vehicle for passage into the afterlife, going by the way I see them ridden round here.
Mr_Bo11ox Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 Someone at my work was flogging one, he'd spent about £200 on importing a shitload of fuggin stickers of skulls for it from the USA!!! Basically every surface had pictures of skulls on. I laughed my bollox off when I saw the ad on the intranet. What goes through these peoples minds, i'd love to know.
Alexg Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 Maybe each skull symbolised a person killed or maimed whilst riding the twatting thing
Mr Lobster Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 Definately the 2nd option, though there are some people who ride them who appear sensible. Alas they seem to be mostly chav chariots, ridden by tattoed skinheads with no shirt on.+1 Certainly the ones I've seen anyway. Deserve to die under the wheels of the Mitsi Warrior / X5 they aspire to.
barrett Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 They were flogging them in ASDA last year, which I think just about sums it up really.
AnthonyG Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Proper farmer ones, with loads of mud/hay bales/collie dog perching on back, are fine. A lot easier to overtake than a N reg Defender or tractor! All other users are deffo category 2.
retrogeezer Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 defo number 2.....and some twat down my road has one. How the fook do they pass noise regs??? It sounds like it has no exhaust silencer at all!
Spiny Norman Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 This BBC news item seemed relevant.. Men died when 'train hit quad bike' on Cardiff track
Richard Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 A lot easier to overtake than a N reg Defender or tractor! Are they? At least you know a tractor or Defender will follow a more or less predictable line, these stupid quad things could bounce, or spit the rider, into your path at any time.
