I'm not moaning but.............

do old tdi Passats run on some sort of maglev system, which only works for crumbly old VAG shite. I bought a B4 Passat estate recently, and it resolutely refuses to use any diesel. It seems to be doing about 59 mpg............

the engines are the best thing about them - and very frugal - but the worst thing is the scene! VW owners!! - don't ya just hate them!

I quite like the "euro look" that seems to prevalent amongst todays youth, although stretched tyres and deliberatley rusty panels don't make any sense to me. There's some lovely looking modded B3/B4 Passat estates around.............

I knew there was something wrong with my Octavia - it positively DRINKS fuel!

Dam thing only does 55mpg!

You buggers need to cut out all this talk of 50+ mpg figures and get back to the real world, where a car only does 30mpg if you manage to drive everywhere downhill and with a following wind and have the luck of a lottery winnar.

Yep those VAG 1.9 PD engines are great on fuel, my Octavia did St Nazaire to Derby last year on one tank of Diesel at a steady 70 mph towing our folding camper, also only £110 a year to tax.

My 1.9 PD engine Passat was brilliant on fuel, It would just keep going on air hence why i bought my Bora when the Passrat got written off, Sadly the Bora doesn't seem quite good on the old jungle juice, It might be because it had the more BHP 130 engine i don't know, It's only does 48mpg though.

When was it last serviced, is it on variable servicing? My Octavia loves it's regular 10K services and a new air filter every 12 months instead of every 40K  , back up to a regular 56 mpg now it has been done.

This 'ere B5 dizzleybopper what I'm knocking about in is ACE on fuel.

The economy is one of the few things right with with them though as reliability sure as hell ain't so clever.

My car gets through £20 of fuel on 10 x 5 mile journeys.

You do the math (cos I can't)

I'm not playing this game.

Dont feel bad. My Cosworth probably hasn't done more than 15 mpg since I owned it.

Hence why I smoke about in a green Skoda!
