I'll include my new Citroën C1. It's 18 years and 3 months old - a model first introduced 21 years ago - so even these 'recent' Citroën car models are getting on in years now.

A 'classic' - I like to think so - an ingenious little package. But who cares as long as it's enjoyable - which it is.

Designed by Donoto Coco - who also penned the Citroën ZX, Citroën Saxo, Citroën Xsara, Citroën Xsara Picasso, Citroën C2, Citroën C3, Citroën Pluriel and Citroën C4 so some pedigree.

I think a lot of people don't realise that this was quite a game changer when it was launched.  Incredibly clever use of space, and a car designed to be cheap rather than a car made cheaply - which is an important distinction.

Had everything you needed in a car and not much else.  Not maybe the best choice if you've got a 50 mile commute, but they're hard to fault as a day to day runabout.  I did a bunch of trips up and down the country between Aberdeen and Milton Keynes in mine and honestly it did even that absolutely fine.

It only really started to show it's age when VW came up with the Up and others followed, which did the same thing but added a bunch more toys (including that stupid clip on central screen for the "integrated" satnav), and people seemed to immediately decide that was all necessary in a car of any size now.  So the later iterations got fatter and more expensive.

I've a lot of time for these little cars, and I reckon we probably will see them gain a following as modern classics as time goes on.  Especially as they're probably one of the last "simple" cars without things like fully multiplexed electronics, and so long as the rust is kept at bay and make sure they have oil in (some seem to like a drink) there's not much likely to cause headaches.

Probably one of the last cars which had a bit of character to them I think too.

My daily workhorse Quasar earning its living, just over 100K on it now, currently running on pure cooking oil. The SRDT is rarer than you might think, it's usually one of one or one of two on the road if taxed, 48K miles or thereabouts.

The MGB was my grandmothers, she bought it new, not technically mine yet.

405s are one of the greats.  That BGT is in ideal spec. Chrome bumper, harvest gold, rostyles. Beautiful.

Maybe to you and me but 405 Estates are very unloved, that one was 700 quid 4 years ago, it took 10 years to do 1K miles, MOT'd every year! Just don't tell @sierraman as cars like that don't exist! The SRDT is great tbh, effectively the newest car I've ever owned, it just wafts along, very comfy indeed. @catsinthewelder is about the only other licker I know on AS?

Agreed on the MG, Harvest Gold is a very Marmite colour, totally out of fashion for many years but I've always liked it. It starts first touch of the key too, even if stood for months and in sub zero conditions, you can still see why they are/were so popular.

Thats why Bs are the default classic. They just work.

"show us your classic"

that implies even on Autoshite that you have a modern daily car, and a classic in the garage so to speak

which one of these would be the modern and which one is the classic in my case then! theres probably a fair amount of older folk who back in the day if you asked "would either of these 2 ever be considered a classic car" would probably laugh at you, especially the Invacar!

its what I affectionately  refer to as  "1970's disabled persons vehicle corner" :) but these days I do get a fair amount of positive affirmation from the public, especially when im out and about in the Invacar, so I suppose they would count as classics now!
