WoC's spotz. 5 Sep, Warwick Retro Classic p.3!

Greetings shite fans. I'm pretty new here although been lurking for a while.

Thought I should pull my finger out my metaphorical ass and showcase my pathetic attempts at spottery from the last few months.

Autoshite Removals. "Your movements are our concern".

Posted Image

Seventies Mini by night:

Posted Image

There are sometimes three Unos here (is that an oxymoron?) but my spotting skillz have only captured the two.

Posted Image

I thought it was just me that got a bit too excited when encountering a Maxi on the M40, but then I stumbled across Autoshite and now it feels OK.

Posted Image

This was going pretty quick.

Posted Image

I found this sight quite comical. Not sure why.

Posted Image

More to come...

Posted

Student owned (probably - it's outside a college) Minor.

Posted Image

Enormous Yank shite.

Posted Image

Excited as I was at spying this minty fresh Fiesta, I didn't have the presence of mind to wind down the rain-spattered window for a better shot.

Posted Image

This ticks every box.

Posted Image

Later model than I would normally snap. Must have been getting carried away that day.

This looks tidy, but DVLA says not taxed since 2005.

"One million miles with Mobil 1" says the signwriting on the side that I have comprehensively failed to capture. Not sure if there's a story behind this one. Eighties publicity stunt perhaps?

Posted Image

There's got to be a "got the painters in" type joke here somewhere.

Posted Image

Had to wait aaages for the old couple in this beauty to finish their picnic before I could take this:

Posted Image

Answers on a postcard please. Don't really know me kit kars. I'm guessing the one on the left's MkIII Fiesta based!

Posted Image

A Triumph or two?

Posted Image

There's a third behind the bins. I can't remember now if it's a Stag or a Spitfire.

I know at one time Mobil ran a BMW all the time with fully synth Mobil-1 oil in the engine, it did about a million miles (of course with regular oil changes/servicing) and they stripped the engine to see how it faired with Mobil-1, the parts showed very little signs of wear.

How can you compare a BMW that's done 1 millions sat on a rolling road to any other car that is used?, The narrator on the video commenting on how good the interior and bodywork are after all that mileage is just daft seeing that it never actually went anywhere.

that pic sums up my hatred for the 'new' mini

how the fuck is that mini?

Posted

Whispers... Its a Beetle

I would say Spitfire. Looks too small to be a Stag, but i am normally wrong on these things. Whats under the tarp? A Bond Equipe? Looks to big to be a GT6. The Bond had a bigger body IIRC.

The one on the left's a Quantum H4. Not sure about the other one.

I was at a friends house last Sunday, where I happened to read an article in Car Mechanics magazine about that BMW. Coincidentally I also read a feature in Staff Car Sagas from an old copy of Practical Classics, where a certain Mr Hirst had written about collecting his imported taxi.

Posted

But wait! There's more.

The guy driving this clocked me taking the photo. He looked like the kind of guy who might not 'get' Autoshite, but who might get lairy without much warning.

Posted Image

Clean XR2.

Posted Image

Purple Jag.

Posted Image

This hasn't moved for months. According to the DVLA it's a 3300cc 1928 Ford. That's if I've remembered the reg right (BF 4046).

Posted Image

This Moggy's pleasingly manky.

Posted Image

And my favourite spot so far. This was being consumed by brambles beside an abandoned Devonshire clifftop residense that is, presumably, falling into the sea.

Posted Image

These were in the garden. Both Scimitars?

Posted Image

Posted

Since you asked, yes.

Posted Image

Might have taken more had my camera not konked out at that moment. My friend, who is not into cars particularly, took lots more, possibly more arty than mine.

The automotive shite Mecca that is Coventry Transport Museum has a temporary display of, quite literally, seven ice cream vans at the moment, under the optimistic headline Ice Cream Dream Machines! They range from the mint and rare, right into shite territory.

Posted Image

1982 Bedford HA.

Posted Image

1952 Jowett!

Posted Image

1956 Trojan!

Posted Image

Commer FG.

Posted Image

Posted Image

1962 Bedford.

Posted Image

And a properly shite Transit for good measure.

Posted

I seem to remember there was an ice cream van thread at one time, but I can't find it now so apologies if the above have been posted before!

Anyway, these lot were parked up outside in the rain for some reason with about a dozen local radio bods clambering all over them:

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted

Fire up the Quattro! :D

Are you sure the FG wasn't an Austin? Surely Commer was part of the great rival Rootes?

Posted

Gaaah! You spot my deliberate mistake! I think it was a Leyland but now I'll have to go back and check.

Posted

Hi Ceri, some cracking shots!

Tell me this - is that your CF in your avatar? If so, I know where there's one EXACTLY the same, same colour version etc, that's been undriven and in the same spot for at least 4 years now. I have a photo of it on here somewhere i think. Might be worth asking about?

Posted

I used to own the CF but had to get shut of it because in a moment of madness I pranged it.

Posted Image

Lacking neither the skill nor the money to repair it I eventually let it go through Ebay. The couple that bought it already had two others, both restored, and bought mine to strip the interior out. When they came to take it away they were like 'This is too good to break, I reckon we could interest our mate in repairing the bodywork..'. I thought yeah, well, we'll see, but amazingly I got an email a couple of months later with pictures of my old camper looking all shiny! I was well impressed if not a little envious. A happy ending!

The one you've spotted looks interesting because it doesn't seem to be a pop-top and it's a diesel, which suggests to me it's a home-conversion of a van. The windows aren't quite the same as mine.

Posted Image

I'd love another but a doer-upper is a non-starter for me!

Hello again shite fans. Here's a few more that've been rusting away in my hard drive.

Posted Image

Ace daily driver.

Posted Image

Salt lake racer inspired Mazda 323.

Posted Image

Shite equine transport.

Posted Image

Looks like someone got carried away on ebay.fr.

Posted Image

Later spotted at Copart...

Posted Image

It's amazing what appears locally sometimes on a Sunday morning when the garage doors open.

Posted Image

Can't resist a DS.

Posted Image

OK, so which of these four motors would you rather have on your drive?

Posted Image

This is flippin' lovely.

Posted Image

Once again my kit-car identifying skillz are found lacking.

Posted Image

Complete with giffer-spec wing mirror bodge. Full marks.

Posted Image

GR7 4 England in August. This is for sale. Can acquire details if it's tickling your fancy.

Posted

This has been sat here for ages. Probably a year or more. Slovakian plates?

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Saveable? These must be rare over here.

Posted

SOme great spots there. I like the Moon Equipped Mazda :D

Kit car is a Marlin I think :?

Oh, and all equine transport is shite.
