If they say put a mileage on it, say 50 miles people in the outer Hebrides would never get another MOT if the last one expired.

People in the Outer Hebrides don't bother with trivialities like sex outside of the family.

Yeah, apparantly you can apply for exemption - can't remember what category exemption it is - but it's the same form as the recovery exemption gubbins. Basically as long as the vehicle normally only lives on the Island and doesn't go off it more than X times, it's not required.

Is no one interested in this? :(

If it was closer I would have had it myself, but I'd have to pay to have it transported and I'd still have the problem of storage :(

Brammy?

This would make a GR999 first car for you I reckon, right on your doorstep as well.

The problem with Maestros, is that they are completely devoid of any fiscal value whatsoever.

The Clubman D I got for my dad has caused him no end of hassle.........people keep trying to buy it off him!

Its a nice car, I dont think the bodywork is even beyond my naff welding abilities (though rust free doors are getting incredibly rare by all accounts and I dont think door skins are available.

Maestros ma look incredibly bland, but the inside isnt a bad place to be and they are not bad to drive - the VW box being far nicer than the in sump BLMC affair in my opine.

For me its the distance thats the off putter. Furthest I have ever been for a car with no tax / test was Crewe, and that was far enough thanks.

Like seemingly everyone else, I recognise the value of this this but I just don't have space for it. Had it been up for sale four months ago I'd have undoubtedly had it instead of the Golf - filthy cheap, a bit of a laugh, cheap to run.

It's almost identical to one my mum specced up for her first company car too, that would have been early '88. Same trim level and colour. Ended up with an Escort instead.

Aye, these old Maestros aren't very sought after :( Still, for cheap transport they're about as shite as you can get.
