Help, I'm turning into Sierraman.

Now we don't fall out, it's just that he thinks he's always right, and I know  I am.

Somehow, yesterday on here, I managed to agree with him on several items. Neither of us could understand it.

Today I'm taking the Front caliper  off my 75. It's 15mm combination, and tap the spanner with my small copper hammer, done it lots in the past.

Spanner goes round bolt corners crumble. I search for a 6 point socket. I have 19,17,13.......

I feel breathing on my neck. Over my shoulder it's @sierraman with a big grin on his face.

I brush him aside.  Using my Engineering Knowledge, and reverting to type, I seize a 9/16 af, 12 point socket, which is very slightly smaller and hammers over well.   Snap on power bar and 3ft tube and they are out.

Socket is stuck on bolt head. I put it in vice hammer it off,  Socket  cracks.

It's all back together now, but I'm on Ebay for a set of 6 point sockets.

Fortunately the cracked one is Halfords. Broke in normal use obv.

Is there any hope for me or am I his clone forever now?

If you nail a clove of garlic to your door.Or a 1 litre bottle of that proper Castrol oil that's the only one you should use in the 1.0 Ecoboosts, that should help!

I probably have an old classic can of Castrol in the corner of the garage that's rusted through and spread its contents all over my 6" thick rebarred  concrete floor.

I’d reverse a base spec Zafira through the living room wall. Then dance three times round the car reciting Saviours Day by Cliff Richard.

This needs to happen and someone needs to film it.

Surely a tin of Waxoyl shouldn't rust through!

If you turned the tin every 2 years as per the manufacturer's instructions it wouldn't rust 🤷

What you need is waxoyl from 1994-1999 as they used better ingredients then. From 99 on it changed and the tins just don't last 😢 But find a tin of 94-99 waxoyl that hasn't been ragged to the moon and back and is still fit to use? Honestly everyone expects a new tin of usable waxoyl when buying a 20 year old tin 🙄

Mine did.  It took 15 years.  Can split just above the level of what was remaining - about a quarter of a can.  @beko1987 mine was a mid 1990s 5litre can.

I can't afford a tin of Waxoyl because I work in a supermarket stacking shelves. And live with my mum.So I pay 60p per month for a tin of Waxoyl that'll never be mine. But I get a new tin every three years and don't have to worry about it rusting through!
