More Old Wakefield Area Pictures

You might have seen one or two of these before - if you have, get over it.

 

 

These flats looked about the same up until maybe 2000-ish when they awkwardly "facelifted" them.

 

 

West Riding Buses. Bet whoever drove that Cortina was a right hooligan - no bumper and spotlights.

These people have "mojo".

 

 

Horbury Junction, so poor it doesn't even have real roads.

 

 

This is George and Crown Yard and it's from 1993! Look at all the new cars, you'd have to be a bit swanky to park here. Can't park here now though! Bad luck.

 

 

Bank Street. For the Renault nerds.

 

 

Minsthorpe High School. Pog's down there in his Escort van doing some surveying or whatever, hope no unruly kids put stuff up the exhaust.

 

 

Former site of the tramways depot. Back in the days where it was obvious which car belonged to the boss.

 

 

Wakefield Market House. GONE. Is that a CA? Bet it's an ice cream van.

Used to work here! It's all boarded up now, probably going to be demolished, because it doesn't look trendy enough.

 

 

My mum used to tell me that in her day there were very few cars around, to be honest I think she was talking rubbish.

 

 

Kirkgate looks better in the old days.

 

 

No cars in this one, I posted this up for the old style road signs! Woolworth(s) remained there until they went bust a few years back.

 

 

Not even sure where this is, probably got demolished.

Is this the old court building, near a railway station, the bridge to which has the old advertising for shirts? Think it used to be the DSS or something too. Streetnames clearly aren't my forte but if you can decipher whether this is the same building, then I did some filming there last year, when the 3rd floor was used as a police investigation office.

 

If not, then that is of no interest whatsoever. Soz!

It's Chantry House, old council building - there was indeed some filming there for some cop thing or other. I actually used to be on the third floor.
