My good deed for the day

I have a neighbour who, while not really being into cars, likes to have a second summer car for a bit of fun at weekends. Until recently he has been tooling around in a tidy enough MGF - Not great, but fits the bill and seemed to be reliable enough.

So, knowing I'm a bit of car bloke, he came around to tell me he'd placed a (thankfully small) deposit on his latest addition to the fleet. The more he described it, the more horrified I must have looked, as he ended up saying "I've done something silly, haven't I..."

Now, I'm not normally one to pass judgement on other folks taste in cars, but in this case I was happy to make an exception. Can I present to the jury "Exhibit A"

Good job his deposit was small!

Surely an early MX-5 is the tool to have? (though being wary of the rust and seized rear calipers)

Surely that money would buy an ACTUAL TT??

My mate paid £4995 for his TT... and that was over a year ago.

Oh no. I hope he didnt think it actually was an Audi TT :?

Confession time....

Many years ago, I actually considered one of these myself. Being a kit car I guessed at the time it would have been cheaper to insure than your standard small car.

Thankfully I started out with an actual Sierra Sapphire Ghia, gradually going to Rover 827s.

Wouldn't spending the deposit on a nice Metro cabriolet be a better use of the money?

Although I do find it amusing that this kit was released BEFORE the Audi TT.

I'd have thought setting fire to the money to be a better use of it tbh.

Looks like the child between an Audi TT and a Ford StreetKa. :?

I don't actually think those look too bad, if the Audi TT had never existed. They just seem totally pointless and masochistic.

And here he is....

I was photographed next to that sign (possibly the one on the other side of Twatt) last night. That picture may appear very soon.

On the plus side, Twatt does have the remains of a WW2 RN air station with a very intact control tower amongst other things.

like this?

i was sent this pic via email a while back - no idea who the twat is
