I used to have a Vauxhall Cavalier 2.0 Li 4x4 that was ex police. Great car untill the dreaded tin worm ate it.lol. Do's anyone on here own or know of ex police stuff even if they are in a yard? I thought id ask as they dont seem to survive to well due to the dogs abuse they get.

I had an ex-Merseyside Police RS2000 Escort, XEM 649W. Last time I checked, it was still on the road.

I also had an ex-Plod Peugeot 405 GED for a while. It was obviously not a chase vehicle, but was still running well when I passed it on. Can't remember the reg of it, was about 8 years ago and I only kept it for a week or so.

Had an ex plod 24v Senator, in white with keep fit windows. Went like a scalded cat off the mark but would be flat out at 132 on the accurate speedo. Much lower than you would expect. Flogged it on (at a profit) to a bloke who wanted it to launch his powerboat. Can't of imagine it would of lasted too long being submerged up to it's axles in seawater most weekends.

I also had an ex Military Police Mondeo Aspen 1.8td. IIRC it had a plate under the bonnet saying it was a Ford Government Military and Police Special Vehicle.

Maltelec, A user on here has a 1979 Land Rover 109 SETAC unit, found in a shit state on eBay, for around a oner, he's since lobbed at LEAST 10k at it, and it does daily driving. One of three known built IIRC, and one of 2 survivors.

Had it 5 years, it`s been off the road since `08 but it had the MOT welding done and 2 new springs before it was laid up and it gets fired up and trundled about regularily enough, the intention is to get it back in use by next Winter. Needs a rear window if anyone nearby has one.

You`re right about the hard lives these cars lead, it`s had more than one new front end and a couple of colour changes. Engine is lovely however, and it has always been a good reliable car and it still goes and grips plenty. In fact mechanically I`ve never worried about it at all, no diff whine or any issues with the `box. Still has a Blue rocker switch on the centre console for what I presume would have been the concealed flashing lights.

Humberside police used to use soild white Protons. They now use metallic silver ones apparantly it was because "they will be worth more" when sold on to the public :D

Most of the white ones are minicabs now - they're mostly LPG.

Your Sierra looks nice. I read somewhere tha a lot of the plod who drove them in service reckond they were the best motorway patrol car made. I like that sierra a lot. Good luck getting it back on the road.

My shite M-reg Escort 1.8 diesel* appears to be an ex-police car - well, it does say 'POLICE' on the VIN plate under the bonnet, which is a giveaway.

Would be interested to know which force it came from - the letters are 'VVX' if it helps. :)

*couldn't imagine the cops caught many speeding crims in that! Performance is woeful.
