This is a bi-annual show in a little village in Oxfordshire which raises money for charities including the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, which is a fairly important cause to Family_Seth. We first heard about the show four years ago but missed the one two years ago. Made a point of taking the trip there today though. I think it is fair to say there is quite a lot of money floating around the area and some astonishing cars come out to play. I'll try and keep to the most shite ones for here though

As its a pre-entry affair limited to 400 cars the car park also contains some treasure.

Fantastic the pennies went to charity.

The clock on that "rat look" Morgan seems interesting.

Thanks for sharing your pic's Seth

How old is that Morgan? It looks like an 19th century pram.

I think those Jensen GTs look fantastic, never seen one before. I bet that plates worth a pretty penny (apparently) as well. Looks like a great show, some great pics.

Posted

That red custom Vauxhall....is it a jacked up Viva or an FD Victor with the rear doors welded up ? Looks Street Machine-tastic anyway.

Posted

The Vauxhall is an FD with the doors welded. Looks like a crock of crap to me.

Loving these photos Seth, so many amazing cars in one place. That Facel did indeed kill the company, iirc they moved from using Chrysler engines to an in-house design which was hugely unreliable. Still fantastic looking though, I might even prefer them to the HK500.

Posted

Lots of want going on there, the 3-litre hits the spot just nicely.

Take it those are American spec bumpers on the Volvo by the way?

Posted

Jensen Healeys...........make a Stag look indestructable. An amalgamation of a Lotus engine that's about as reliable as Robert Green, the build quality of a Friday afternnon Wartburg, and an electrical system comprised of Joe Lucas cast offs.

Posted

Nice shots. Looks like he's trying to feed the Jupiter...

Some thoughts occur here.Nice show Seth, I wouldn't have minded going round it. Qual pictures, as always.

I'd be quite intrigued to see if that Facel Vega Facellia had the original Pont a Mousson twin cam or a Volvo B18B in it. When the recalls and engine failures got too much FV bought a job lot of B18B engines and boxes from Volvo and slotted them into the last Facellias to try and shore up their reputation. They went pretty well but endowed the car with all the handling grace of a swinging mallet. Going from an all alloy to an all iron engine affected the weight distribution somewhat.

They can be made reliable nowadays though - there's at least one Facellia in the UK that has its original engine because there was a C&SC article last year that featured one.

That 164 looks like a TE - a mega rare super spec American jobbie. Dai Brace's brother has one in a shed in Anglesey.

Last question. What PCD do the Lancrabs run? I've seen an 1800 with Exactons like mine on (5 x 114.3mm), and yet the one in your shot has SD1 two six alloys on it (5 x 127mm). Did they vary through production or do you think matey has swapped the hubs?

Posted

I didn't know that about Volvo engined Facelias. At least they didn't use Ford V4s like SAAB!

No idea on the Landcrab PCD though I also assumed those were SD1 wheels.

Posted

Pretty impressive turnout of cars there. I don't think I've ever seen a Facellia in the flesh. Looks tiny compared to an HK500. That Alfa 6C is absolutely stunning.

Posted

Looks like a great show Seth, It amazes me how many cars there are still about with all the events this weekend that was on.

I've been thinking the same. With Bromley presumably sucking up 2-3000, there was a show in Luton and no doubt plenty of other local events too it must have been a very busy weekend. Bet there's nothing on now for a few weeks

I uploaded nearly 100 photos and they're here if you want a look at the rest.

See here chap. Yet again C&SC fills gaps in our collective knowledge!

I'd love to read Martin Buckley's book on Facel Vega, but the price of it leaves me cold.

Like the Morgan, especially the old style switch , one for Father Ted .

:) Crackin selection there, thanks for putting those up.

140 and 160 series cars from the last year and a bit ('73- very early '75) of production all came with the fat bumpers that would soon be seen on the 240 & 260 range, that car is doing things for me. Wish I'd never sold my last 142S, always fancied a 164. Mmmm, leather & PAS, such decadence. :D
