A thread for shite currently for sale for under a grand. For those who might need some cheap wheels at short notice. Try to stick with cars that have a valid MOT as this thread could get flooded with scrap.

I'll start things off with this....

If you can put up with something a bit oddball you can get a half decent car sometimes, it’s just the usual stuff what causes people to steer clear like tax costing a bomb.

Often wonder the reasoning on blanking the plates out, is it to prevent possible fraud or is it to avoid you checking out the test history?

I'm more inclined to go with the latter in this price range...

‘Trade Cars’ ‘Birmingham’ ‘Mk3 1.8’

100% then no chance that will be chowing through enough oil to unsettle OPEC.

An estate car with good MOT and working air con for £675? Absolute bargain. These are the sort of cars I wish will be available when I'm next in need.

This is a great thread and could really do someone a good turn.

I quite fancied this but if (when) I ever get a Stilo again it will have to be the 1.4 with the 6 speed. Seller also had (or has) a Croma for sale, which manages to look both mega appealing and super unappealing at the same time. Not many modern Fiats give me the fear but those do.

Tbh that may have been chopped in because 4 pot manual Mondeo mk3s aren’t CAZ or ULEZ compliant, yet autos are oddly.

Edit: Seems that one is oddly - could be an SCi? I’ve got rid of a 2.0 4 pot manual petrol one for not being CAZ happy here. In this case I agree with the original post, much oil burned.

The amount of cars I’ve seen over the years that ‘ran like a dream’ then when you got there…

I suppose it’s alright to get you out of a bind but sometimes these £800 cars end up costing you more than just spending a couple of grand on something that has a bit of life left in it.

Honestly, as someone from Birmingham I buy my cars from Derby.

If that doesn’t tell you about Birmingham cars nothing will.

To add though, luck of the draw. I’ve had a £90 Peugeot 405 that was flawless and a £2200 Saab that lasted 3 months, so I get what you mean. I try to make sure my daily driver has a warranty nowadays anyway. Can’t be fucked to sit at the side of the road in a cloud of steam any more.
