The Humble Mechanic is another I like to watch,VW specialists but with a twist.

Although they have put me off owning anything later than a mk3 Golf..

Oh! Definitely more "useful" than "entertaining" but Olis Garage does lot of good tech stuff for old VWs.

On that subject - did anyone ever find out where the infamous Photonicinduction went?  Disappeared for ages apparently due to family problems, returned out of the blue, then disappeared again without a word.  I did read one or two rumours online that he was in prison - did anyone ever hear anything concrete?

last I spoke with him he is doing well, just not quite had the time or the mojo to the youtube thing of late, he certainly is not in Prison or anything of the sort! here are some lightbulbs I got from him last year for example :)

but I also happened to have found myself chatting away with none other than the legendary Photonicinduction! one 3 hour phone call later, and he cut me a good deal on a couple lamps that I had been searching for for a long time now!

the 1000W 400V (between phases) Osram mercury lamp on the left and the 1000W CID PAR64 Metal halide lamp in the middle! (the CSI/CID PAR lamp im especially pleased to have because I have been trying to get one since 2013~, and every single time previously I have tried to get one something has always gone wrong or stopped it from happening!)

and its funny how that worked out, in that there both lamps I had been looking for for a long time and I end up finding both from the same source! never for-saw that happening!

and he threw in a 1958 Soviet floodlighting/projection bulb on the right, as a bonus item! which makes for a very nifty lineup of 3 very different 1000W lightbulbs!

I have to give thanks to another collector with who is also friends with Mr Photon, who saw that he had the PAR64 Metal halide I had been long searching for, going surplus and put in a good word for me with Mr Photon!

Good place to share this? I was full of flu and did the whole thing in about three takes. I love the subject matter but am far from an expert.

I’ve started to watch 6D Diesels after discovering the hedgepug 305 playlist; I’m not into Merc commercials much but their T1 conversion to Sprinter drivetrain is worth a watch.

All Things Alex after discovering he had a 104 for a while; and through him Alex’s Assets. She’s as mad as a box of frogs and dailies a Marina estate.

I have unsubscribed to WrenchingWench because of lack of new content and her VAG cars aren’t my bag, and also Salvage rebuilds; for a while they did all sorts of crash repairs and started restoring an HA Viva, but nearly every video now is a 2-3 year Beemer, or some clickbaity “We got ripped off by CoPart” title.

I have to say Ben at Tasty Classics is putting out some good stuff recently. Hes now got over 100k subs and doing well with his merchandise.

Not Economically Viable is decent too.

ODFS has vanished again as has Pete C.

I've stopped watching most of the channels I'm currently subscribed to, I think I'm just losing interest. Quite a few of them were fun to watch at first but the content tends to be the same over time and I have got bored. It's probably me but I find a lot of the so-called popular presenters to be opinionated, inverse snobs, rude or boring.

One channel I've kept dipping into is Steve's Place Down Under. An Australian chap with a large plot of land and an appreciable collection of mostly European lorries, rusting away. He always gets them started up and driving, putting them to a few hours work. He permanently has a beer in his hand too. What a life!

It's a shame that ODFS goes months, often a year with radio silence and then a flurry of updates in the space of a few weeks. He's editor of Truck and Driver and gets very busy though. I find his channel quite varied and although it's fully GM based, his fleet is still eclectic. Plus there's a part of him that's still living in the late 1990s/2000s modified car scene which I too participated in, most likely because I'm the same age!

I've not uploaded any tinkering videos for years as I've just not got the time. When carry out repairs or maintenance I want to get it done and not spend twice as long stopping and starting for the camera.

I'm always hoping to find my next rabbit hole each time I scroll but it's not happened in a few years now.

I’ve noticed over the last couple of releases Techmoan is looking very unwell. I know he has health issues, which may explain his shorter format releases of late.

I see the guy who does demolition ranch (about guns but has car cross overs) and off the ranch, which was about him renovating a big holiday resort has quit youtube. He has about 17 million subscribers between the two channels.

He says he's going it as he's realised he's missing his family growing up  while he gets caught up in youtube stuff. I wonder how long until Vicegripgarage has his revelation.
