bangernomics Posted March 8 Author Posted March 8 Well the volvo has been stolen.By the step daughter thankfully and not some scrote. The reason, her 17 plate cashcow is leaking via the nsr roof rail mount. The son in law idiot has smothered it in ct1 and made a right flipping mess. So in the daylight now my latest bodge a thon is almost done I will pull it apart and have a looky.Anyway new loo cupboard complete with 1970’s cladding. Its very very pink. Looks like karmann rot to my eye which makes it betterer. Paper and some small shelf and calling it done. Bear and loserone 2

bangernomics Posted March 10 Author Posted March 10 Finished papering. Also picked up a lid off a smashed up piano off a neighbours driveway. Womble mode engaged to make some shelves. Think it worked well. Dan29, Keymaster, High Jetter and 7 others 10
bangernomics Posted March 10 Author Posted March 10 And fixed the qashqai too.The nuts had fallen into the roofliner. An hour removing the comedy sealant the idiot had poured on and then two blobs and bolted back up. Worst part was getting the CT on my hands like an idiot.Remember to wear gloves etc. GeorgeB, mk2_craig and loserone 3

bangernomics Posted March 11 Author Posted March 11 In actual vehicle related news.Hymer failed its MOT BooRear brakes stripped and adjusted up. Hooray. If this sells shortly I may have to take a trip to bakewell. Although I really need a new driveway. mk2_craig, Tickman and Wibble 3
bangernomics Posted March 11 Author Posted March 11 Volvo/peugeot engine question. At idle and low revs theres a bit of (beyond diesel) clatter which goes away if you up the revs.I know this has very recently been serviced but I feel compelled to do the oil and filter to see if its a lifter etc, are they hydraulic on the povvo 1.6d? Also ordered an aux belt, should I do the idler/tensioner at the same time? Could the belt, advised on last service cause a bit of noise. Other than the idle rattle its actually a lovely thing to cruise about it.Still need to pull porsche door apart to fix the handle. Great.
bangernomics Posted March 29 Author Posted March 29 House stuff has taken most of my time between work (whose idea was another contract) but my hymer finally came back after long term loan. What a bleeping mess they have made.First job was MOT, she failed on handbrake and rear brakes. Stripped and adjusted and a clean pass. One win at least. So far I have thrown the mattress away and cut a new one. Boiled the cover about 6 times so its just sun faded now along with the upholstery covers. The boiler was not firing, the hob was like a truckstop griddle and the fridge wasn’t firing. Another gas reg to replace the dead one that was leaking because over tightened. The boiler was the water pump and, yes it had been left running and died. Great so a £60 twin reich obtained and fitted, boiler fills and runs, tick.Hob fired up fine after I spent an hour polishing it back up.Bathroom rear wall mirror is off as it had been duct taped rather than just foam taped back up.Bathroom tap micro switch duff so will have to look at that too. At least the new sink and skylights are in one piece still. Then I set to cleaning, and cleaning. And cleaning.Actually she still looks ok, 20 odd years of spain and south of france aside it will polish up just furious at how dirty it came back. Relatives eh. Will add photos later.Oh and the injection lights on, and it came back with a quarter of a tank when it left full. Relatives eh. lesapandre, Saabnut and Bear 1 1 1

bangernomics Posted April 4 Author Posted April 4 Kill me.Loon views polo, then messages later, hmm all I have is X much (more than I advertised for on her per the norm) ok no problem. Radio silence. Bastard springs a coolant leak on RH side of engine, cba with car shit having spent a few hours sorting niggles on the hymer. I cleaned the fridge burner out, now it fires up but won’t stay lit. Need to figure out how to get the thermocouple off at the other end. FFS.Still need to fix porsche door.Have a house full tomorrow and my back is still knackered from 3 weeks ago. This is the fridge lighting and staying on. Then when turned off wouldn’t stay on again. Arrrrgghh think I need a break from mechanical stuff.
bangernomics Posted April 5 Author Posted April 5 Polo stuff.Of course the second I go outside the heavens open. That was fully done in. Exactly the same failure as the last Polo. Saabnut, lesapandre and Bear 3

bangernomics Posted April 8 Author Posted April 8 Fridge got fixed eventually. So we went away for a couple of nights. Wales, in particular the Llyn peninsular has to be my absolute favourite bit of the world. Hymer getting listed again as I want one in France and import is a bollox.
bangernomics Posted April 11 Author Posted April 11 Whizzed over to Pickering Friday afternoon after driving to collect My Dad from Knott end on sea. He is obsessed with the bangers and cash show about matthewsons. So we stayed in the premier inn in pickering which is two mins from the modern buildings auction area. This is as happy as he gets. Then we went over to thornton le dale to the old site.He served his apprenticeship at rolls royce in crewe so spotted a bit of his own handiwork in the new site which was nice. Then the old legs were a bit worn out so over to Whitby (about 30 mins or so) for some fish and chips before heading back.£30! Ouch etc.Anyway was nice so money well spent.Special mention to the volvo I obtained via these pages which ferried us the 500 odd miles in two days without issue. Overall worth a visit just to end up in the Whitby chippy! Cracking car this. Dick Cheeseburger, drewd, Dave_Q and 6 others 8 1
Bear Posted April 11 Posted April 11 £30? Magpie and they dropped prices, or the one that's all green and white tiled in my memory (but probably isn't)... Not sure what I'm more jealous off, mooching around the cars, or Whitby fish supper... bangernomics 1

bangernomics Posted April 12 Author Posted April 12 £30? Magpie and they dropped prices, or the one that's all green and white tiled in my memory (but probably isn't)... Not sure what I'm more jealous off, mooching around the cars, or Whitby fish supper...Magpie was hammered so we went to the Angel, spot on cooked fresh, fish landed in Whitby and filleted in the shop upstairs before being fried downstairs. Spot on.The cars were good, my word though some horrors lay below some of the orange peel/sunken filler loaded crap that was no doubt going to fetch top money in the next sale.Still very good to see him enjoying as his health has been shite since last years months in hospital. lesapandre, Saabnut, High Jetter and 1 other 3 1
bangernomics Posted April 23 Author Posted April 23 We drove down to the ferry Monday afternoon. Betty decided that she definitely wants an elec volvo either an ex30 or 40 budget allowing. So I posted the berlingo on the immigrant (ex pat) sales groups and its gone today. Now need to take it for a fresh CT. Aldi’s finest wipers LED bulbs replaced with halogenWhat a baw ache to fit. Headlights half polished. All the lights work so pray for us that I get an easy ride on this sale. The last one was a mini convertible subframe bush nightmare. bangernomics Posted April 24 Author Posted April 24 Bastard lunatic council worker adjusted the lh door mirror into bits then fecked off saying is chef would be in on Monday. Mrs B was in the car alone and didn’t feel like she could argue even though its the law to complete a constat. Great. The bloody thing is sold, so bodged the frame back together and she picked all the bits up at least so the cover pieces were assembled and the jigsaw was melted back together. Looks ok just need amazon to deliver the glass on Monday ready for the CT Tuesday. No pressure. EX30 insurance quote was €350 with every option ticked. That’s about the same as the Berlingo. Bizarre that a €35k car is the same as a €3.5k one to insure. All those clever systems I guess. Test drive Monday I don’t think I can wriggle out of it. Bear 1
bangernomics Posted April 28 Author Posted April 28 Boom stage one of bye bye berlingoBetty has also ordered the ex30, actually drove nice on my 10 min spin. Screen bothered me but she wasn’t bothered at all so meh.Pitch price inc all the chuff was €35k which was €10k over our notional spend, settled on €33k with extra warranty, reg fees and the like. Anyway she is happy. loserone, Dave_Q, vaughant and 2 others 5
bangernomics Posted April 29 Author Posted April 29 Now the hunt for something shite begins that I can use for the dirty jobs and if needed pulling a small trailer etc. Probably in reality an R5, 205 or that sort of old hedge find crap. For the bored amongst you near 22800, €1000 ish, 5CV or less (€350 tax one off) pref old simple and not too battered looking. (Wife choices ) loserone, mk2_craig and lesapandre 3
bangernomics Posted April 29 Author Posted April 29 Usable shite seems thin on the ground round these parts. When I wasn’t looking, shite fest. Now not even an old kangoo in post office yellow. Bof
