Balls Polo MOT expired and I forgot to remember. Bastard MIL lit for a glowplug error (I think no1) so light off, two restarts off then third back on. Will need to reset as I get to the station on Monday if he can squeeze me in. Dads 75th tomorrow so need to go say hello too.

What do you buy a 75yr old? He really wants to go to Matthewsons but its miles away so that means an overnight somewhere too. Any recommendations?

Is a glow plug error a fail ? As long as it starts.....

Engine light on is a fail on this age I believe.

And yesterday a glorious. Fail.

Broken spring (tiny bit had fell off apparently), a side repeater failed on the way and the bloody MIL came back on during the test apparently.

Spring landed this evening, glow plugs p0670/1 landing on Friday so hopefully that sorts it out.

Also was Dads 75th yesterday so took the Porsche up to see him, terrible weather as I hot onto the M55 and Knott end was flooded. Great journey.

Started on the polo this afternoon. God what a bastard to undo. Are the big bolts at the bottom of the strut just pinching or do they need to come out fully to release the strut?

Also given in on the droplink and ordered a pair. Bastard undid to the last bit then the spline in the middle sheared off. Should have just ordered a pair.

More UK side of the channel tools ordered.

Today at least its had the MIL resolved with a set of glowplugs. The mirror mounted side repeated bodged with a bulb wrapped in orange plastic replacing the fancy LED fitting and diagonal rain whilst I fought with fittings for the strut.

36mm socket, 4.5” grinder & a set of torx bits. I should have just paid to have it fixed.

Starting new contract a week tomorrow so will use the green lad if needs be but the miser in me says 75mpg is better than 25.

Given the state of the weather at the minute I’d be happier in a 100bhp fwd hatch with skinny tyres than the lovely green thing.

You know the green thing is four wheel drive but yeah the weather is mental.

Had a small gap today so droplink chopped off and ripe for coming off when socket lands.

That was a right chore. Back together again, blooming MIL just lit up again though. Maybe stored code so will wipe and take it round the estate later. Last resort reset at test centre as they will just look at it off rather than run a full test I guess.

Anyone want a very reliable if not leggy polo?

MOT achieved.

Just fired up to do an airport run. Granted at 65 MPH which seemed to be the leaf cruising speed habit too.

Then realised

So on our way back from the moon now, only 237698 to go.

Stupid Polo mil was caused by stupid owner.

Replaced the glow plugs, light still on.

Plugged the relay back in, light goes out!

Makes no difference to the way it starts?

The steering wheel on this lad has always looked a little worn to say the least so I bought some vinyl fabric sprays. A whole £9 for three. Wish me luck.

Glow plugs seem to do nowt on commonrail diesels unless very cold (deep into - temps). Ive given up fixing them on the renaults as doesnt trigger eml.

Collection ahoy, and claimed by the step son before it even landed.

What does it need? Probably a wallop with some underseal where it has been welded up and a set of new deathrings once it has a fresh test.

Really should start to sort the outside of the house out now the inside is almost not a building site.

MOT time.

Well the lemon puff failed on a bit of sill weetabox on the opposite side to the one David had already welded up.

MOT man said I will just weld it up for you, £100 inc the test fee! He had already messed about with it for the emissions. He reckoned fresh oil and a tank of E5 should tick it off for next year too.

Just a little bit of tickling to do cosmetically now and it is ready to go to its new home.

£400 all in first car!

get your MOT man to stick a V6 in it for £50 more ....

He did say he had two saxo vtr motors on a shelf that would fit nicely. I politely declined.

Fun little thing to absolutely ring the neck of whilst staying within licence retaining speeds.

Not much happened car wise, berlingo and polo oil serviced, berlingo also had a new header tank as it was dribbling slightly.

Fresh antifreeze etc. sorry so dull.

Renewed the trade policy for less than last year! Just by shopping about. Cheeky basts.

Also spent this evening sparking about to clear the soon to be new laundry cave of solar and battery gubbins. Hopefully this is its final move.

I am trying to make a tiny adventure bike. Need two more probably 50cal tins as panniers. Maybe some gs stickers

Alarm set for the morning to go get on a train for my second collection of the year.

Actually excited to have this new arrival as a nice commuter upgrade.

Polo is potentially gone off forum tomorrow, will see as it is a better offer than I advertised it st on here. And lastly Porsche has rewarded my kindness by the drivers door handle no longer operating the catch. Still triggers the window so hopefully a cable or rod has fell off.

Also Hymer MOT is booked in too so may be all change over the next week or two.

Mrs B has delivered me to stage one. Crewe station. I am very early but the connection window was too tight so I elected to hop to the earlier option and wait at the end I really don’t need to miss. 62b54c1db58265203fe6ac7efdcc7bb9.jpg

Swapped trains at Stafford after being entertained by the most adenoid equipped pair of trainspotters I have ever met.

Lovely guys.

Very uneventful return journey. Thanks again to @bramz7 and the half a tank that saved me stopping. Bladder of steel etc.
