Probably the only one in the UK, but there's likely more in Sweden and elsewhere in Europe.

This one on a Sierra Laser looks rather fetching.

Yup, it says they made 300 odd of them, but I can well believe it being the only one living here.

Hi Peter, one of my old restoration colleagues messaged me this evening. He saw you on the M40 on Monday and said he was sure it was the chap that came to see us in Tadley. Made his day!

That’s cool.

Say hi to your mate and tell him that I’m always happy to make his day.

Got this at the Enfield Pageant this morning.

Don't need one now but for a tenner I had to buy it. It's mint and might come in handy one day.

Unbelievable.

Apparently, this photo was taken in 1991.

I can see at least 4 Sierras. Those were the days!

Peugeot 106 in the fast lane is the car that seems to bridge then and now.  Must have been very new in ‘91.

Not sure one would fit a Sapphire!

I enjoyed cleaning and polishing the MGB so much that I gave the Sierra the same treatment this afternoon.

Looking good!

The W123 doesn't have its own thread as I have completed all necessary repairs a long time ago and I drive it so rarely that there isn't much I can tell you about it.

I polished it today, as I do most years. I've had it for coming up to 16 years now, it's done almost 140k miles. It's been to Poland and back twice in my ownership but nowadays the furthest it goes is Beaconsfield Services every third Saturday to collect KFC.

I will never sell it. I told my wife to bury me in it.

Did you also tell her to wait until you're dead before doing so? Specifics are important...

Jokes aside, absolutely cracking looking car. Love the interior!

In recent weeks the Sierra had spent too much time in the garage and not enough time on the road. That all changed this week.

On Monday, I took the Sierra to two work appointments and drove from home to Goring (Oxfordshire), then to Maidenhead and back home again. The roads approaching Goring are amazing, very picturesque. Unfortunately, the photo doesn't do the view justice.

In total, the Sierra clocked up 67 miles.

On Wednesday afternoon, I brimmed the tank and drove from home to Chinnor for a work dinner, then home again.

Outside the venue.

721.JPG.8f5c3aa6ea7746d36c4fd789df96c322.JPG

And on route home. I think that was the second time that I drove the Sierra at night.

722.JPG.9ebd863655b80f38e9b41c81f17c80fe.JPG

In total, the Sierra clocked up 46 miles.

Today was the big one. I took the Sierra to another two work appointments. I left home at 7:30am and drove to Wigston (Leicestershire) via the M40, M25 and the M1.

723.JPG.6d308d007f55a70baaca69ffd891f349.JPG

On route back, I stopped at a motorway services on the M1 for lunch. Thirty years ago, a motorway services car park would have been full of Sierras and the RoadChef restaurant would have been full of reps in their snazzy suits and gelled back hair. Today, there was only one Sierra in the car park and I wasn't wearing a suit. And I don't have much hair.

724.JPG.9c3f6079acc3a992ad0b6b645e648b34.JPG

My next appointment was in Datchet (near Windsor). To get there, I headed down the M1, across the M25 and the M4.

Outside my client's property.

725.JPG.5c742236efa16fbaf1d4313e9a54deef.JPG

From Datchet I headed home via my local Esso petrol station.

726.JPG.2ef0c982eaac7985c734195dcda41eac.JPG

In total, the Sierra clocked up 246 miles.

I took it easy driving up and down the motorways, I mostly stuck to 60-65MPH and rarely got out of the nearside lane.

In total, over three days, the Sierra clocked up 359 miles, completely trouble free. I checked the oil and water when I got home, perfect, didn't use a drop. And the best thing? I've done my maths, the Sierra achieved 47 MPG. That is astounding. I doubt that my modern Nissan wouldn't be able to manage that, although, admittedly, I usually drive that a lot more enthusiastically, especially if there are cyclists around. Win!

More soon.

That's very good.  I think I got 44 out of my 2 litre Pinto Sierra, but only by driving deliberately gently.  Never saw as high as that.

I spotted you on the M25 on Friday, it was the bit crawling towards the M40 junction at around 1330.

Yep, sounds about right, that was on route back from Wigston.

Did I look ok?

All looked fine, I was just surprised to see an 80's rep mobile on the M25. Then it dawned on me it was probably you!

You went from lane 4 to lane 1 in front of me when the traffic was backing up, I'll have a look later if its on my dashcam, it records a constant loop so it might have been copied over by now, I had a rather long day on Friday.

Ideally suited to the 1.6 EMAX, the low drag and light weight mean long hills on motorways are a doddle.

I hope you were driving your Sapphire to complete the 80's/90's vibe.

Quite a late reg on the Senator too.

Sadly not, it was too hot today to be stuck in M25 traffic without air con. The M25 / A3 junction is a c*** to navigate with the current roadworks.

Deffo agree about the aircon mate, I'm nipping out later to collect some stuff from Kettering, AC on all the way for me.

I got stuck in the A3 crap on Friday when I saw you, I was going to New Malden, they seem to have been doing that junction for years.
