Albert Ross Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 Where I work, at a main dealer, we get a lot of old customers popping in to say hello. Today, a bloke whose car's we've serviced for at least 8 years came in to speak to me personally. Seem's he's moving to Scotland in a few weeks and wants me to help him out. His second car is in the way, and he wants somewhere to store it with a view to it being sold, so he asked if I would handle it for him........ He doesn't want a deal for it, it's taxed and tested too. Oh yeah, it's a Frogface Scorpio Cosworth! Dagenham reg aswell, '95 on the N. The Wife evens seems enthusiastic-ish about the prospect. He reckons I can hang on to it, and when it sells (if it sells) I can then pay him what he is hoping for! He doesn't need the dough either, he says if it takes a year or two, so be it. I reckon I have just won a free smoker! La La La...... I am so fecking happy right now. ( I have been after this car for 7 years now, so it's worth the wait I reckon.)
Milford Cubicle Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 Nice work Albert!A frogface with a Cosworth under the bonnet sounds like a very appealing prospect to me.
Pete-M Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 I had one of the last Frog Scorpios - loved it to bits. I'd have another (but it would have to be another 'black light' one...
Milford Cubicle Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 I think the facelift ones look a bit half-arsed.
mk1_4dr Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 Sounds like a nice motor. Does being a Cosworth make it an Ultima by default then? Or could actually you buy a mingebag spec with a 24valver?
Albert Ross Posted April 30, 2010 Author Posted April 30, 2010 Fairly sure its an Ultima! Full leather and electrics. £££!
mk1_4dr Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 Yeah, Ultima should be all the bells and whistles. Usually Raven leather, electric EVERYTHING (rear bench inc IIRC) 10cd changer. Must be one of the 1st on a '96 'N'. I don't recall seeing a any M plate bugeyes....
Milford Cubicle Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 My Scorpio TD was an Ultima, it didn't have a leccy rear bench, and lost out on the trip computer/MPG readout effort of the petrol versions.
Guest Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 Sounds like an excellent situation to be in, I'd love to just be presented with a nice Scorpio to drive around in. They look great, especially the back end.
mk1_4dr Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 Fullwidth, american-ised lights FTW.They just need sequential indicators to complete the look.
Albert Ross Posted April 30, 2010 Author Posted April 30, 2010 Not got it yet, trying to sort a storage/parking spot for it, as I reckon my neighbours will consider it rude to have 6 cars in a quiet cul-de-sac with only 6 houses in it................( all other houses having a car each)There's an image of it on Streetview, but I'm fucked if I know how to linky the image etc. as I'm a thick cunt.
Guest Tony Hayers Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 I think the facelift ones look a bit half-arsed.I think that the facelift ones suit the bodyshape of the car much better than the ealier ones. Nice one Albert we had one of these a while ago - a 95 Ultima TD and it was a great car As a side note MC, are you on UEF? Reason I ask is your location and avatar are the same as someone on there.
joethornton1986 Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 Must be one of the 1st on a '96 'N'. I don't recall seeing a any M plate bugeyes....my mates dad had one a few years ago on an M plate
Milford Cubicle Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 As a side note MC, are you on UEF? meggersdog Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 I've had a few Ultimas all 2.3's and all had raven leather but none had electric rear seats. They are alot of motorcar for little money.Had a Mk111 Granada Cossie a few years back which did have eleccy rear seats so maybe the Cosworth Frogface does have them.
trigger Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 Indeed, I joined to take part in the "post a picture as a reply" thread. Now that sounds like a good thread idea!I like the bug eyed Scorpios, I just think they where before there time a bit which is why the public didn't take to them, I think the estate where a little more popular due to them not having the American spec rear lights.

RichL Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 I like the sound of that. Hated the frogface when they were new, but it's got to be a winner with that Cosworth V6
autofive Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 dont talk to me about 24v ultima'si borrowed one yesterday, and i killed it this morning either one chain snapped, or one chain slipped because of a tensioner failure. sounds terrible, no power, maximum 3k revsowner going to investigate tomorrow
mk1_4dr Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 You killed the SOC battlebus? Didn't that BOB have a date with a mk3 cortina?
autofive Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 You killed the SOC battlebus? Didn't that BOB have a date with a mk3 cortina?yues, i hang my head in shame i think he has a BOA in mind for the mk3
Milford Cubicle Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 I think Richard is asking if rear electric seats recline, or the seat bases move, or both?
Pillock Posted May 2, 2010 Posted May 2, 2010 I seem to recall (having played in one in a showroom) that the top of the backrest is fixed, the electric adjustment slides the base forward and backwards making the backrest recline. So a bit of both.I'd deffo hit a Scorpio Cosworth. It's on my 'list'.
Albert Ross Posted May 2, 2010 Author Posted May 2, 2010 I've been to see it this morning, where it is parked on the pavement(!!) in true shite style, I saw a cracked rear bumper, holes in the front bumper where I suppose the lamp washers used to be, rear parking sensors, towbar, flat OSR tyre, I am told the battery is flat and it needs fuel in it! It's still a winner, I didn't have the key, I have yet to speak to him about docs etc, and I reckon I will have it at home tomorrow. I don't know how to show the pic on here, but on Google streetview, it's on at 70/74 Chequer Road in Doncaster DN1, as you zoom in, it's close to a big octagon in the park. (It's not there now, it's at a top secret location near the batcave)
Lord Sterling Posted May 2, 2010 Posted May 2, 2010 Seweeet! Looks like you've got yourself a gooden there. Ok it needs a little fettling. I've always wanted to try one of those out. Its on a Cars I must try/own list.
