Yes Oui Shite, or How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love The Bum

Back on the road thanks to a Conny-spec 75 with hand controls. Previous owner was a proper old gent. Slight corner scuffs and a couple of Giffer trim remedies but it seems to be a goodun.

Just getting used to it and being back driving after 3.5 months. My withered shrimp fists can cope okay with the hand controls, but I've been using the throttle with my foot (brace means that I can't move my foot across to the brake) and the hand control for the brake... Unfortunately my knob was hewn from a different species of plastic tree than the dashboard so it clashes horribly.

Dogs approve.

Does it take a lot of recalibration to use hand controls or does it feel relatively natural?

welcome back to the road

I had to have one of those knobs on my Rover 600 when I broke a wrist and managed to start twisting the wheel like an autotester and popped the PAS cooler pipes !

Having access to land definitely helped find what worked best for me and get adjusted to how it works/reacts. It felt natural after 20 mins or so.

Thanks. The temptation to act like I'm in a bed frame with a 998cc A-series is all too great 😂

Great cars - adored mine.

I had a ZT-T previously which was decent but not the best example. This one is in much better condition.

Gorgeous colour. What's the interior like?

Mines the same colour. Hope  yours serves you well.

I'll be honest, I'm not a fan of silver cars but decent auto estates with hand controls that aren't £££££ or on Shetland seem to be hen's teeth.

Great to see you driving again, I assume our old Merc for bridged

No idea, bud. Someone offered me silly money for it and I said yes.

I don't care about colour. I did want an auto, but I have to take what comes at the right price.

I very much fear clutch failure, but had my last one for 3 years without problems.

Good to see you back on the road, even though I was slightly pensive with the thread title!

Thanks.

One of Mrs_oui_si's photos when we started talking to each other on Bumble was of her with her old dog. Dog and nice bum? I had to say yes to a date...

Luckily I have this as Mrs_oui_si managed to put 25l of petrol in her diesel car...

It's a nice wee thing to drive.

Just looking at your hand controls, do you have a little switch on the throttle/brake control for the indicators? I teach people with disabilities and this is something I have picked up before. I had one client who had great difficulty signaling because of it. Lovely car though. I have one myself. So smooth and comfy on a run.

I don't, but it would be handy. It's sometimes a bit tricky to get across to the indicator stalk.
