You are hilarious sometimes, the business is a huge success for the owners and they are continually expanding, its obviously a very good business plan for them, but you know best 👌

How long have they offered the no pass no fee tho ?

How much does the test cost if and when it's passed?

The most they can charge is the rate set by the DVSA at £54.85.

My local “tests only” place is fantastic. They charge £45 and give free retests within the 10 working day “partial test” window no matter what it fails on.

Flipping it on the head to “no pass no fee” seems odd but 🤷‍♂️ whatever.

Just had a look and it's 50 quid for cars etc. Don't know if that's reasonable for the south east. My regular place in Leicester charges £40,with a free retest, I think, within a week. They say if they charged any more, they'd lose business because of local competition.

Another interesting aspect of these guys, I see them taking owners of Lexus and Mercedes Benz in under the ramp to point out faults.

The Benz guy was a real Max Power type and clearly his mods were not quite as good/safe/legal as he may have thought.

They were not nasty at all, just to the point.

I also asked permission to get pics of the underside of the last three cars they tested and when the Astro goes, I will ask again. It is great for record keeping and my Turd Polishing threads.

Their ramps it seems cost like £20k each, but are amazingly fully computerised, and once the test is started, everything is recorded and reported.

To hit the tester on the head in case if he doesn't pass it?

When I lived in West London there was a place doing this. Always busy. If it's still there it would have been going for at least 40yrs, maybe longer. We used to buy a car cheaply and see if it was worth doing up. If yes, it got done up, MoTed and sold. If not, then over the bridge it went.

They were doing them 12 years ago at least, so it’s not a recent marketing gimmick.

Aaaaahhhh….

Forgot them on there.

Well, if you look at the whole car and followed the actual build thread, you will find it is filled with contradictions and challenges.

Stilsons as you call them, are actually welded onto the towball bolt, making it useable, but a bit of fun.

The toolbox “balanced” on the rear bumper is bolted down and contains the butt ugly fuel filler cap.

Space saver spare wheel another tongue in cheeek thing, filling a big dead space, though functional it is only there to limp away from a flat.

5 point Nascar racing harnesses, hmmmm, bit of fun, PITA but functional.

I see, and understand perfectly. I've built a few* kitcars and things.

Check out 'Mally's Stock Cars, Bikes, Life..... on here,  when you have a few hours spare.

Sorry don't know how to link it, but Google will find it.

Yours is a very nice, clean example.

We used to have an MOT centre like that here. A couple of times I've had to fish around under the seats for lost change when they've decided to pass something I'd expected to fail.
