In 2003 the FWD coupe wasn’t available so the 150ps Roadster was the cheapest TT by quite some way!

Even a base model 150PS Roadster was quite an expensive car back in the day!

Yeah it’s quite interesting to see that a TT starts at £36,400 today - so much for cars getting more expensive, eh?

Didn’t know you did YouTube, just watched, liked and subscribed 👍

Cheers! I’ve built a following of EV nutters on my main channel but definitely keen to do some shit car tinkering stuff on the other 👌

Had an offer on this from a good friend that’ll be hard to turn down 😂 but because she is a good friend I’ll obviously be spending the profit on repairs and maintenance before she has it.

Is this the best £14 you can spend on an old car? (WARNING: CONTAINS CRIMES AGAINST DETAILING!)

I really need to crack on with cleaning this up.

Current job list:

LCD display on the cluster has loads of missing lines. TADTS and there’s a few firms out there that can fix them. I contacted one and they made the right noises but wouldn’t give me an answer to “how do you want paying and where do I send it to” so I’m looking for another at the moment. Might just go with one on eBay.

Starter motor keeps running after the engine starts, sticky solenoid I guess. Need to remove it to make sure I order the right replacement - might strip it down and clean it up before I order new.

Secondary air pump is noisy. Could either replace it for about £30 or repair it with some bolts and washers, not sure which I’ll do yet.

Aerial is broken. Seems they’re quite expensive 🤦‍♂️

TT badge is missing a T - thinking about just debadging it because they are NLA and £60 on eBay - thoughts?

Back box is blowing - replacement required I guess.

Rear diffuser needs painting.

Don’t want to go too mad with it - it’s a cheap old base model TT after all!

Nah it’s supposed to be silver with a red background - the silver has fallen off 😂

One red T is faster right... (E.g. Golf red TDI)! Often a question on the FB group asking what the one red T means. Looks stock!

Can't swap dash as part of the immo. Well you can but you need VAG commander.

This chap on the TT FB group seems pretty competent in fixing them: https://m.facebook.com/groups/1175023986353050/permalink/1568488320339946/

Expect to pay £100 upwards. If someone has been in before and made a mess it'll be more expensive. Dash steppers can fail too, pushing the cost up. Personally I just accept mine has a few pixel rows missing. But then mine isn't that bad.

Is it just the air pump mounts that are buggered? Could be just resting on the mount from all three mounts split and making a racket. My mounts are hanging in there. I'm not that bothered on mine as it's only like 30s on startup or so (also not that noisy).

I think the air pump issue is that the rivets are leaking - the fix is to drill them out and replace with nuts/bolts/washers.

Check it is that before fixing. My old Octavia with the same engine was making a racket on start up. Thought it was the air pump so replaced it with a new one. Still making a noise. Turned out that the pumps lack of puff had led the solenoid in the manifold to stick closed, and that was a sufficient arse to replace that I flogged it instead.
