Sorry but just found this photo and couldn't find any threads to add it to so i thought I'd start a Renault thread.

So what your thoughts on it, yay or nay? I quite like it, Strange seeing it in 2 door, I wonder if it's a one of conversion by Renault or a home brew?.

Also scanned this 1963 Renault advert earlier, I never knew they made the 4 van for so long or that the Estafette was sold in the UK.

Feel free to add more Renault stuff, I'll change the title in the morning if it hits off.

Fark!!! Never seen a 25 ragtop before, that is one sexy car.

Posted

I'd happily roll in that, complete with big 80s Rayban Wayfarers, Miami Vice attire and a big grin on my face. That is one cool loking car.

Posted

That 25 is a bloody good looking car. I have never heard of one before, is it factory or a one-off.

That STUNNING 25 convertable was built in Belgium by the same people who did the Renner 5 convertable (just can't remember their name for the moment! ) It was a proposal which was put to Renault, and was going to go into production, but never did. SHAME!! That car was for sale a year or so ago on French e-bay.

I believe the culprits are called EBS.I know nothing about building convertibles, but if I was a bank manager and someone came to me asking to borrow some money so he could start converting renault 25's into 2-door convertibles I'd laugh him right out the shop, (and would have done the same in 1987 even though I was only 12 at the time). It seems to me like the absolute least suitable car for a soft-top conversion anyone could possibly think of.

Yeah, but it looks bloody wonderful, don't it?!! here's some more pics:

There must be powerful gas-struts fitted to that estate. Excellent idea though, think of the hatches that can be "estateifie" in this manner.

Posted

That 25 is gorgeous. Why on earth didn't they put it into production?

Posted

En profil the 25 conv looks a bit too long behind the doors for me... the Applause Break on the other hand, oh my!

Wonder if this is EBS too, couldn't find any hints on the car and google doesn't deliver (spotted an hour ago);

Really can't decide if I like the estate or not- it just looks like what it is- a cheap and not very well done conversion. The roof line is dreadful, though I do realise that continuing the line of the saloon's roof would greatly reduce the load space.

Posted

Awesome, i'd never heard of this before. The 'vert kinda looks like a bloated Fuego with the roof lopped of. But in a good way.I really, really like the estate.....

(There was a dog rough Crayford Allegro on the bay of fleas recently IIRC, I wonder what happened to it...)

^The Pug there had me for a mo'; simply because of the 'CTi' badge on the back. But then, it doesn't look like it fits too well, so probly came from a 205. Also, come to think of it, I'm amazed PSA never did a 'decapotable' version of that model. The R25 has a whiff of America about it. Could it have been in line to be rebadged 'American Motors' over there? Especially as it bears a passing resemblance to the Cadillac Allante.

...Doors stolen straight from a late '80s Subaru SVX?
