Mk4 Cortina with a 1.8 Pinto and Mk4 Ghia trim. 1988.

Posted Image

2000E, this cost me £150 and had under 60k miles on...

Posted Image

Did actually tidy it up a bit, then swapped it for a Mk1 Escort..

Posted Image

1275GT. This cost me £80 because of the awful red and black paint job.

Posted Image

Cortina 2.0 Ghia and Mk1 Mexico. December 88 this will be.

Posted Image

Cost me £300 this did because it needed a 'big wing' sump, and they were pretty expensive even then.

Posted Image

Sunbeam with a 1600 in. I owned this four times!

Posted Image

£120 from St Helens Auctions. It was dead tidy. Sold it to a mate who blueprinted the engine and then smashed it into the workshop wall by accident. Totalled it.

This cost me £150. Ran well until I thrashed it down the Formby Bypass one sunny Sunday afternoon and killed a big end bearing. Sold it to a bloke who said he was going to restore it. It wouldn't have been too hard to do.

CNB998Y. 2600SE auto, £600 in 1989. Less than 60k on the clock but the doors were already gonners. The auto box wasn't far behind.

Under the bonnet of my old RS2000, MTU11T, May '92.

Delta HF Turbo, November '92. Penmachno.

323i. £400, May '92.

Cav 1.6SR. £60. April '92.

Posted Image

This was hit head on by a Private Hire Talbot Solara in '93.

Posted Image

Bought this for £800 while I was fixing the Capri.

Posted Image

Decided on a reshell.

Posted Image

Interior out..

Posted Image

Right, what's the best way of getting this out?

Posted Image

Mans best friend. The angle grinder.

Posted Image

Simples.

Posted Image

Reshelled it into a 2.8i shell. Bought a P6B as well.

Posted Image

Quite a nice combo really.

Posted Image

Was rather proud of 'em.

131 Supermirafiori Sport cost me £400.

205 GTi 1.6. £800 in 1994.

Which was about the time I went rallying with a load of mates.

This was producing 400 bhp at the time...

I'll try and find some more soon...

Hanging on to all of those would of been a wise idea! You would of been a wealthy man indeed.

Was that photo of the rally transporter taken outside of the old Overhead Railway tunnel that leads to the shite laden garage made famous on here and in 28dl.com?

Posted

That 'shite laden' garage is Roscoe Engineering. They're anything but shite...

Shitting hell, you've had some right tasty motors over the years. The look on your face in the Capri reshell pics made me giggle

Thats a superb history of cars! I like the old Cortina's. Reminds me of my uncles old R-reg one that had been a taxi in its previous life, and he bought it when it was 10 years old.

Great selection of cars 8) .Love the 155,but it should of had a Martini sticker too :)

That's a enviable line-up, are you still in the same house? Did the neighbour's complain ever?

That's about 1/10th of the total line up..Same house, yup. Neighbours used to complain when I had particularly loud exhausts on a few things. RS2000s with single box systems used to annoy them somewhat, but I've pretty much always managed to keep everything out of everyone elses way. There have been times when I've had more cars than parking spaces, but that hasn't happened too often. Keep the number of cars outside the house to under four and I'm ok.Oh, they weren't too impressed when the Capri shell was delivered and the old, yellow one taken away. The chap operating the Hiab took a lot of liberties...The next door neighbours son, who had the Audi 80 in the pics of me cutting up the yellow Capri shell, he wasn't too impressed six months later when his Audi started to rust in a straight line up the nearside wing..

Depressing to see that none have survived :(

I knew a few hadn't survived.RDP326R I thought had lasted longer than that though.HPB115N only cost me £75 and wasn't the best.XDJ673S was written off by a renegade Volvo in a 3am hit and run.JMB105T donated its shell to a rally car.DDL 72V was crashed into a wall by a lad who'd just built a race engine for it, before he got it on the road...MTU 11T went to Ireland.YAT153X was last seen in Chester with inappropriate alloys. Was gold when I saw it last.YVT635Y was YVT636Y.A622OEO was written off by a mate, who arse ended something in Wigan in it.XUG878X is possibly on the original 3.0S id, but I doubt it. Gave both to the buyer, let him sort it.JUE183N I thought would have survived. It was solid and tidy.TUT131X was beginning to dissolve back in '93.I'm amazed B881CRN lasted another 6 or 7 years though.

So only the RS2000 Then

I know the Golf G60SVR survives as I sold it to a friend who's about to put it back on the road, the Rangie D251XBB is also safe as it went to a restorer in January. Why would the Safrane have gone from the computer? Private plate maybe? The chap who bought it was the kind of chap who'd like that sort of thing.
