The market is a bit odd (so few cars I guess) and some hang around on sale for ages. But then the silver 2.2 on eBay the moment for £5k seems a great deal. I totally would, anyway.

Put it this way, because it was cream, grey, under 100K miles and described/looking well, I had an amount of nostalgic temptation remembering who I was when I had my new one...
ruffgeezer Posted September 8, 2023 Posted September 8, 2023 The window will be laminated glass, I had one go like that on my S40, it had shatterproof glass all round. One day whilst waiting at a t junction, a stone hit the Driver's front window, just left a small mark on the glass but when I finished my shift that night, you can bet the little fucked had cracked through. Cost me £60 to replace it with a used, standard, window from the local scrapper.

Expand All C6s are double-glazed, though, so given the attrition rate it probably won't be too hard to obtain a replacement - don't think they have different shades of tint, either. Might need to wipe the soot off some of them. grogee 1
GeordieInExile Posted September 8, 2023 Author Posted September 8, 2023 We have a working radio and screen. It's gonna cost £117.50, but hey. At least it works. Apparently it's likely had an aftermarket unit at some point which has then been removed and the standard unit put back in. The wiring was incomplete and a mess. I probably could have dealt with that myself but whatever, it's fixed. Hopefully tomorrow's regas gives me nice cool air! Dave_Q, 500tops, Schaefft and 4 others 7
Bear Posted September 8, 2023 Posted September 8, 2023 A lot of these had those bloody Parrot things wired in - as did many cars of the time - though I am pretty sure my RT4 one had fairly decent Bluetooth support - paired to a Nokia E90. I miss when iPhones and Androids were just 'an option in a sea of options'. If I'm remembering correctly you could, with RT4, hoy out the 1.8" iPod-like 30GB drive (was 10GB reserved for music? I know it was not all that generous), put in a larger one or presumably now, an SSD adaptor board and then there were some Mirascript hacks to allow a bigger partition but it still ran into the files/folders limit. I do remember the car's own voice recognition being quite good, if limited. And it didn't have full postcodes I think so I ended up with a TomTom in the A-pillar corner anyway.
Bear Posted September 8, 2023 Posted September 8, 2023 Also given how thoroughly batshit the role of the RT3/RT4/Navidrive is in terms of the car's interfaces it wouldn't surprise me one bit if botched radio wiring would knock out part of the HVAC.

GeordieInExile Posted September 9, 2023 Author Posted September 9, 2023 The aircon now blows nice and cold. And as an added bonus the ABS sensor related warnings are off. The engine management light is still showing but hey, I can live with that for now. Off to the garage next week for a once over and hopefully some cheap mechanical fixes. For now, I think I'm gonna go to B&M and get a load of shit to wash it with, or maybe even Halfords to get something to sort out the scuffs on the bumpers. GeordieInExile Posted September 27, 2023 Author Posted September 27, 2023 Current state of play:- - The front parking sensors are constant at low/no speed - water ingress suspected, WD40 will be applied - The suspension isn't floaty enough - suspected bushes as the spheres are all fine and not leaking fluid, garage can investigate when it goes in on Friday - The ABS/TC/handbrake lights are off for now and the handbrake, after a short spell refusing to work, is working again - The driver's side rear brake disc was glowing red and radiating extreme heat after a 15 minute drive home the other night - maybe something is stuck or dragging? Garage can investigate - EML on again - fuel filter to be changed In spite of all of this, I still love it. It was a truly lovely way to drive to Leeds and back the other day. My employer's deputy CEO was suitably impressed when I gave him a lift to a site visit the other day, as well. Datsuncog, Hertz, rainagain and 3 others 6
