Suffolk Classic Car Run Photos

I went on my first classic car cruise today! :)

I joined the East Anglian Practical Classic (EA-PC) club last year and today we all meet at Waitrose car park in Saxmundham Suffolk, Took a few photos and then drove in a convey to Aldeburgh seafront where we parked up and ate fish and chips and talked more about cars.

There was a bout 70 cars turn out and it was quite a sight being on the tail end of a mile long queue of old cars!

Anyway enjoy the photo, sorry if there's a lot of them!.

This was a genuine ex Royal Mail van that covered the South Norfolk area until retirement in 1990 and was then restored by Royal Mail in Diss for promotional work.

Had caravan club stickers in the back window.

This Chevette had only done 19000 miles, the original owner smashed the rear end up and scrapped it, Then a bloke bought it from the scrapyard along with the parts to repair it but it ended up living in the garage for another 12 years before the current owner bought it and restored it.

Ooh! That Maxi is lush, the NSU is not BAH at all, the 203 is fabuleux. JAP Morgan is GR8 for hitting pedestrians... and very nice.

Posted

I recognise several of those cars - the Farnham seemss to pitch up at pretty much every show in East Anglia, and the red NSU gets about a bit too.

Posted

Holy fuckballs that Granny is fappin lush, I would like that very much.I also saw a loada classics today being Easter including a mk3 'tina the same but alas I was too late to take pics as they buggered off as soon as I got there.A nice collection of pics there cheers.

The Granny and the 3.0 Capri for me.Although, I have to say the Granny would need the proper air filter if it were mine, K&Ns are noisy as **** on those, I'd want a bit of quiet.

great pics  the ital royal mail van the chevette and the maxi had me droooling :D they looked like they just came outta their wrappers :P

What was the little green sports car next to the dinged up p6?

Do you mean the black car with the tan hood?.That was a early 60's Mercedes 190, I never got a photo of it though.

The bonnet emblem on the Escrot is Lincoln, Ford USA's premium arm.

Stange thing to do, This is this Cortina i saw last year which also had the same emblem.

Fitted as standard to Mk4 Zodiacs to aid lining up pedestrians for the kill.

Great pics! East Anglia seems to be a sort of Mecca for well-loved and beautifully kept old cars and it's great to see so many out on the road together.

Makes me even crosser that I was forced to go to the garden show at Trinity Park instead.

Good call. Must put foot down harder. Trouble is there is no arguing against "but car shows don't do sheep racing". Imagine the collective dismay when the sheeps only did one circuit of the falconry area before the chap noticed there were only about 5 people in the audience and loaded them back into the trailer and went off in a huff.Didn't even get back in time to see the vintage tractors at Old Buckenham either. Tell you what - this needs to head over to the Grumpy thread.

My bosses old 3 litre Capri, I've had a drive of that. A while after he sold it, the new owner visited the garage in it, whilst we were talking (standing next to the car), a lady drove past, stopped, came back and told us that she used to ownn the car.It was re-built some years ago with a lot of new parts, including the bodyshell.

Posted

The Capri was my favorite car of the show i think, I got told it's won quite a few awards as well, It went to a few show a little while ago and won car of the show, It was mint.

If you want to hear something impressive then listen to this, The owner of this Viva has contacted me on flickr to tell me about his car, He drove from Luton to Hemsby on holiday for the weekend, driving down to Aldeburgh for the afternoon to see the car show.

2 weeks before he was in Liverpool in it and he said his longest trip was Luton to Bridgwater in Somerset and back in one day whist towing a caravan!, and it's still running it's original 1256cc engine!

Posted

He gets about a bit then! Luton to Bridgwater and back with a caravan must have taken approximately forever to achieve.Good to see it gets proper use though.

Great pics Trigger! Looks like a great day out 8) mucho jealouso. Pretty sure I know that GSA... yep, here it is at the CCC National Rally, 2006:
