Never had this problem , perhaps ive been lucky , Just send back , " As of this moment all further responce must be executed via a solicitors , no futher responce will be given by texts , phone calls or by any other method available , Hope this is satisfactory for you , regards Mr **** "Or tell him to fuck off

I have sourced your home address and this matter needs resolving by noon tomorrow

Hmm, sounds a bit like a threat there - I think the Police might be able to use that should he not fuk off now.As said, one text back asking to hear from his 'solicitor'. If you feel harassed call the cops.

Make sure you save the text messages from the bag head, you never know if you might need them for the future. But just sent one text saying the car is sold as seen, if you come onto my property i will call the police on you for trespassing. Have a nice day.

Tell him you can't give him a refund because you used the proceeds to buy a hot egg.

Surely 'sourcing your address' could not have been difficult for this titheadHe presumably examined the V5 prior to parting with next weeks child benefit for the car, maybe in his world its a sign of the true hard case being able to read an address off a piece of paper!Agree 100% with previous advice, send one polite text stating that the matter is in the hands of your solicitor and all future correspondence should be conducted between his legal team and yours.

As Trigger says do not delete his messages.I have been the victim of harassment and the worst thing I did was to delete the threatening and abusive messages I recieved.Without proof the police will do nothing.Send one reply and only one, something along the lines of "My phone battery is now charged and I'm now able to reply.Having read your texts they seem to be getting more and more threatening.Sorry to hear you are having problems with your car.Perhaps you should seek legal advice before continuing to harass me"

You have two choices Mr.Claim - you can either ignore him and tough it out, or you can fold and give him his money back. No point doing anything in between. It doesn`t even need stating that he has no legal recourse, of course he hasn`t, but you don`t like the messages, they`re getting to you, I can tell, and I don`t blame you, it`s fear of the unknown, is he going to turn up? Or is it a load of bollocks? (most probably)I would suggest that if you are a millionaire and only sold it for a bit of fun, refund him while humiliating him as much as possible, however I suspect you aren`t, and that £300 is gone or at least got it`s hat and coat on, therefore you have no choice but to sweat it out, what else can you do? He can`t have his money, it`s gone. But do not reply. Ignore him. Once you acknowledge him he`ll step it up, continued ignorance will cause him to get bored. Imagine you lost the phone on a bus. Keep it turned on, though, if he sends something really dopey that could get him into trouble with the Police, you want to know about it.

It's intended as a veiled threat but one that he can say wasn't intended as a threat if the police get involved

one polite text stating that the matter is in the hands of your solicitor and all future correspondence should be conducted between his legal team and yours.

that's probably the best replyhe probably won't drop it straight away, so all future replies can then be "I told you to send it to my solicitor"Is there a manual on how to be a shithead on the internet or something?

Warren, as you live close buddie, if you feel "shit is going to hit the fan" i will PM you my phone number, so i can turn up with Keyboard and hit him on the head, like a true Keyboard warrior. But seriously , if you feel threatened i would not hesitate in helping you out.

Next time I need shut of a car it's going straight to the local car auction. Never again will I endure the low lifes that I have had to deal with since advertising it. I can see why people use webuyanycar.com now.

What sort of bloke was he when he bought the car? Just give us a general overview.

He came all the way from Manchester with his girlfriend and baby to buy the car. I remember he was about 25 with a black eye......

you're probably stressed that he's going to turn up at the house tomorrow.remember that "can you leave my property please" is a perfectly reasonable response to anything he can say, and cannot jeopodise the position if it goes legal or the police have to be involvedif you ask someone to leave and they refuse, then it's either trespassing and/or harrassment

I think it's the humidity. On a more serious note, I would suggest not to mention anything about solicitors whatsoever - in my line of work I get this quite often and if I'm feeling particularly cocky I'll ask for the details of said solicitor there and then - to date nobody has provided me these. When someone says they are going to their solicitors I struggle not to burst out laughing as in 100% of cases to date all it has proven is that they do not have one - it has the opposite effect to a threat. Also I would suggest that Vicsmith's advice is to be heeded really, it's either one thing or the other. Partial compromises are not worth the effort in anything like this. I would say from the description so far that he is all mouth and that if you ignore it you are doubtful to hear anything more. Don't stress about it, it's just some bleater with no money. To sum up - The chances of someone buying a Micra for a few hundred quid seeing you "in court" are entirely based on how often you play tennis.

I would just write one message back and leave it"I'm sorry that you are now having trouble with your car. As you and I are both aware the vehicle had no known faults on collection. I Therefore intend to offer no refund. If you wish to take this matter further all future correspondents should be posted to my home address via your solicitor. Until then this is my last word on the matter. Regards...."

Hmmm, I know you can never tell but you wouldn`t think he`d come all that way on the off chance you were in, just to cause himself some trouble. Still think ignoring is the best policy, at least that way, as far as he`s concerned, you might not have even seen these messages. If he is some sort of unstable twat, the thing that`ll trigger him would be a refusal to cooperate, totally ignoring him probably won`t.I`d definately carry on ignoring him for now, and I`ve had one or two threats over cars in my time - "better watch all these windscreens tonight pal" because I refused to replace a clutch on a £395 Mondeo that`d been gone 3 months, things like that. It`s always with the cheap stuff that you get this grief, because non-proper people think that £300 they`ve scraped together is all they have to pay for their motoring, indefinately. Plus, it`s the only £300 they`ve got, so if anything at all goes wrong they`re fucked, so they try and put the ball back in your court. If that`d been an £800 Micra chances are the buyer would have a couple of hundred quid to chuck at the fault, and you`d be hearing none of this.

Not a problem I will PM you my Number to arrange everything. As for cash, don't worry about it, give me a cup of tea and a nice biscuit.Or send £10 off to Lankytim for his old tools :)

On a lighter note the mechanic saying "it's a lemon" reminds me of a boatyard I worked in a few years ago.The resident engineer was always getting asked to look at other workers and residents cars.He would get them to lift the bonnet and start the car. He'd shut the bonnet say "it's fucked" then walk away.

Tell him if he wants a refund, he will HAVE to go to a solicitor and take it to court, and that any attempt to extort , threaten or cajole you by further text, email telephone or in person at your home address will be recorded/noted and may be passed to the police and / or your own solicitor on the grounds of harrassment. As a solicitor will cost him £100 an hour, he's going to run out of steam very quickly.

Completely agree with Pog. Polite yet firm.

So he's a gobby git who got a thump in the pub from thinking he was a hard man and his missus wears the trousers and is egging him on with the threats.

It's the throttle body that usually causes a problem on the old bubble shaped Micra, around £500 from a dealer. It's a lot of trouble to earn £100, (£300 - £70 tax - £130 scrap value).
