Serious question

I have unmasked and driven the car now.

Do we show the FIRST REVEAL next ?

Or do we continue to discuss further PARTS ACQUISITION and show that?

Just bought these.

Get my drift?

Some of you may have been following the evolution of my Oldsmobile in my random builds thread.

Question is………

The car is down as Blue online.

Primary colour is still BLUE (and many others)

Simplistically I don’t think it needs notifying.

It’s not exactly a bank robbers getaway car now, is it??

Oh and @MrBig may have sent a parcel my way, along with an EBay order.

Can you guess what it is yet?

Pleased to see my nuts are safely in your hands. I was concerned Royal Mail would mistreat them and split my nut bag.

I don’t think you need to change the colour on the registration document. Blue is still the major colour, and that’s all that matters.

I was thinking along similar lines but does the blue sides look a bit bland compared to the top surfaces,

Party in the penthouse, business on the lower floors

Original plan was a ribbon along the side.
Too much.
Maybe.

So when is a reveal not a REVEAL in the true sense??

I would say, when you have been following the evolution step by step.

In this case, it it when the masking came off the glass, wheel inner arches, sills, lights, rear view mirrors and various other bits wrapped for 5 weeks.

So on Friday I actually had a bit of a hectic day, including the unmasking.

I still had jobs to do, like the aluminium window frame sections I painted on Saturday.

I also got involved in a Facebook Marketplace battle, thanks to my friend @PaulY spending my money.

I have decided to edit a short 6 minute video which has a load of IMPORTANT NEW INFORMATION that you need to know if you actually read the words and text that takes me hours to create on here because I not adding that information into the “REVEAL” on here.

Anyway, I eventually got to drive the Oldsmobile out from its paint shop just after 5.00 because Pedro had actually made it home and went to inspect the unmasked car.

Watch this video.

Have you posted this on GJ? I wonder that audience would make of it all

A* from me.

Great work ! If you had just shown us pictures of the final product, and told us the paint had been done by a backstreet lowrider garage while the car was still in the US, we would have believed you !

I expect the next step would be to install airbag suspension ?

Thank you.

If you considered also, mostly done with rattle cans, I think it came out pretty good.

I would prefer a moderate, useable static drop of maximum 2-3 inches.

If you crowd fund the cash for parts and come help…….

I was sceptical, I won't lie.

But what you've come up with is a lot of fun.

Wish I had half your perseverance and  confidence to experiment.

To my eyes, there is a mahoosive problem with the way the Oldsmobile looks now,

It makes the astro look very plain Jane, really dull and nondescript in comparison,

On its own the astro is lovely, but parked next to the olds???

Time to give the astro a makeover too?

Ttfn Glenn

Ps are you changing your name to Joseph now you have your coat of many colours?

You should rightfully be over the moon with how it's come out.

Already said elsewhere but I think it looks fantastic. You've taken something that looked like it has been living in a hedge for a decade to a showstopper. I expect many casual observers will totally underestimate the skill and effort that has gone into this.

Those wheels are very much needed now, the original steels have become obsolete with the new look.

I've been following this with interest. You've taken on a very difficult task and made a great job of it with some serious patience and perseverance. I like that it's not been made too fussy by keeping the sides plain. Bravo for doing something you've wanted to do for a long time. Many of us have dreams and plans that never see the light of day.

While I agree with @MrBig in most of what he's said above, I can't let this line pass.  IMHO alloys would actually detract from the splendid bodywork.  I think the plain black steels and dog-dishes are perfectly discreet, doing their primary job of keeping the body off the ground quietly and sensibly, while the party rages on over the horizontal surfaces.  But that's just my opinion, you must do what you feel is right.

I think it's lovely.

Take a look at the swang?  wheels they run now,

Well they're slabs not low riders so don't have quite so wild paint

It was a very tired looking nondescript American car before, now it’s something special.

Not my ideal style of paint work so definitely not something I would have attempted or paid for, but I absolutely love the finished effect and 100% would drive it.

its hot me thinking about the laquer peeled roof on the metro 🤔 wouldn’t have quite the same effect I think 😂

I don’t know how to say this.

You can do it.

Patience and perseverance.

Simplicity is also a good idea.

Different cars.

I think the Astro should be sold to someone who will take it on as it stands.

I often get agitated at people having no clue but having outspoken opinions.

The wheels…….

Yes, you know what happened already.

When I built the Rezin Rockit it was also a 10-15 year itch.

It came to about 90-95%  realisation of vision.

I think when the wheels are on, they may balance it all out.

I would say that you would be surprised at how well you can recover the roof for not a lot of money.
