Hey, if we're allowed more than one I'm going to add my old XJ6 S3 4.2 auto. Really was like the cliche about being in your favourite arm chair and was GR8 4 TRFFC LITE GR4ND PRICKS.Also missed: Vectra 2.0 Supertouring (all too briefly owned last year), Proton Satira Sport (recently gone) and a Mk1 Consul Cortina (pre-airflow) amongst many others.

Miss the most?Thats difficult but I'd have to say S885LKN, Alfa 145 2.0 Cloverleaf. Got a load of paintwork done so it looked superb. When it worked it was great. Genuinely quick, good to drive and a bit different. Sadly it liked to break down too much, always something expensive so had to go as it was breaking me :( I knew at the time I sold it that it would probably be the car I'd regret selling the most.Miss my Twingo - P899KEY a bit as well. Always liked that and could quite fancy another. DVLA says its no longer on the road so either scrapped or exported I guess.

A Mk2 Transit camper van which was my first car and transported me and my friends when we were 18 and at school. None of them could drive so it fell to me, it was GR8 4 carrying our band's equipment around for our very localised tours and "courting" Mrs Z-A as we lived with our respective parents. It was a pop-top camper and the roof came off at 80mph on the M25, I was changing a CD on the Discman sitting on the bendy stick when I heard a huge WHOOOOSH and looked up to see sky. Pulled over and an artic did too, the driver said "fuckin hell mate, your roof just went over 5 cars and landed in from of my truck!". He was nice enough to retrieve it for me and also give me a ratchet strap to keep the back doors shut after we shoved it in the back of the van. The police turned up, asked what had happened, then laughed when I told them and drove off! I went home then retraced my steps the next day, there were lots of skidmarks on the road when I passed the spot.Got the roof replaced with a bathtub hi-top after a few months, just as well it was a dry summer :lol:Can I also choose the 1600 Mk3 Capri I borrowed off my friend's dad when 17 and drove until it broke? Not a straight panel on it but never pulled over. Too much paperwork?

Well i couldnt possibly choose just one as ive liked about 80% off what ive owned  i would say that all the colts ive owned i would have back in a shot along with the datsuns and the fords infact sod it all off them  if i was forced to choose just one it would probably be the mk1 cortina lotus lookalike

Er, 1990 Fiat Panda 750. Bought as a stop gap about nine years ago and I ended up keeping it for four years. It finished up doing shuttle runs on the Upper Severn in Mid Wales - stuffed full of people and kayaking gear and driven across fields - it couldn't be broken. :D

I'd love my old Frogeye Scorpio Ultima 24v back. I liked it.Quite fancy an estate one.

Predictably, my Mk 1 Cortina! It was a 4 door deluxe, with a GT engine and box, plus the lovely GT dash. Sadly rotten, and rear-ended outside my student digs. Shame. Oh, and my Arizona Gold Mk 3 2000E estate, a truly lovely car of which, inexplicably, I have NO photos!

I'd love my old 340 back.I miss it's weighty steering, insanely comfortable seats and it's general wallowiness.

Yep, me too! :D

I miss my E30 3 series! I only sold it to a friend because he said he would look after it! He didn't!

Told dad about this - so one from father Skoze's finest hour;

Mk3 Capri, Essex V6 bored out to 3.2 with stage 2 kit on it, single leaf rear springs, bilsteins, anti dive kit etc etc so low it got stuck on everything. Not forgetting the X-Pack kit on it! Got nicked and used as a getaway car in a bank robbery and made an appearance in a film too!

I've tracked down the current owner who's agreed to return it to him if it ever needs a new home 8)

Apart from my mk1 Mexico, the one I should of kept even after 10 years of ownership was my trusty old Escort deisel estate.

Eighty thousand miles,by me, trouble free motoring (total milage 180000).

Drive it/haul it/tow it anywhere, total universal handy workhorse that fitted in with my life style.

Sold to a local guy who dumped a RS turbo lump in it.

Dam it.....miss the old girl :(

Talbot Sunbeam Lotus I had a 1981 Black and silver one with the 2.2 twin cam fitted with twin Dellorto 45 DHLA carbs. No poncy induction kits required in those days... Far too much power over traction...great!

D660 MDV - Capri 2.8i Special. 15" Brooklands. Slightly lowered. An extremely strong engine (for what its worth).First proper car. I finally killed it T-boning a pikey woman in an uninsured Astra at a junction whilst driving when I was too tired.Favourite memory was accidentally holding it sideways for over 100 feet on a wet road showing off to some girls at a bus stop :lol:

Been thinking about this. I might not still have it now but I wish I could have kept this a bit longer. I just didn't have the skills at the time to do the things it needed. It'd be about a days work now.

Seth, what engine was in it? Flathead 4 or 8 ?

Posted

Aquaplane equipped 100E engine :D Scooted quite well in first and second in such a light car but the tall tyres tended to make the big jump to third feel even bigger.

8) I do like side valve engines with period mods in old style rods :D

My Vauxhall Victor FB :( I needed the cash and it wasn't practical having two 60s cars at the time but I'd have it back like a shot. Still in nice condition and I'm in touch with the current owner.

Mark 1 Renault 5 - EMT 113V. Brilliant car, my first and taught me about bodging French motors! Owned that in 1991 for about 9 months.Sad to think I had to sell it when I ran out of cash. Ironically got a job a week later. Nowadays I have time and garage and funds. Oh, if only I'd stashed it in my mates lockup as he offered, be a beautiful (if extremely rusty) project now, and very sensible as a second car these days.

This is Tubby, our 74 Mk1 in about 1985. Sadly no longer with us as she was stolen for her ULP V4 and recaro seats. I think the person who took her had some kind of nasty sporting accident, if memory serves me well.......

I must admit I have always regretted selling this old girl. It was automatic and I bought it off the guy who had actually PDI'd it new.

I sold it in 2001 and was horrified to see it at a show 3 years later completely wrecked. Horrible leather seats, dents , scratches and rust all over it.

There's hardly any of these Chrysler versions left now , so its a real shame.

One of the very best cars I have driven, still smile when I think of it and regret scrapping it when the tinworm went wild on it.

One of the best cars ever to drive, if speed limits are ignored. Brakes, engine, steering, suspension and general poise on a completely different level from anything else. Trouble is, since 90 in a GS feels like 45 in most other cars, the economy always suffers - I struggled to beat the low thirties since was always travelling so quickly. As with most Citroens, an extra 20% of cubic capacity, slightly firmer damping and tyres a size wider would have helped their cause on Englands small roads, but even then mechanics would have had difficulties understanding (the cars are not complex, just different).

Must have been something else in the mid 70s - to think that the alternative was an Allegro or Cortina... :?

My 1300 twin carb SudSprint was a little gem - fast, economical, comfortable, smooth-engined and charming. Still miss it. Went the usual way.

1983 109" high capacity pickup - quite a rarity as most were worked to death. I bought it at a farm sale for £200, it was totally original with the BL Supercover card in the dash and with the bonus of an extremely knackered 2.25 diesel engine. I got given a 2.5 from a LDV 400 which was "buggered". All it needed was four new injectors. We dropped that in and I put it to work.

It was without doubt the best workhorse I have ever had, I only sold it as I was totally skint :(

It went to a guy in Manchester who rung it onto a tax-ex plate and I've no idea where it is now.

Edited to say I'd forgotten about the second pic! The blue Series 3 with no roof was, at the time, my daily. It had belonged to my grandad and we had just replaced the back body after an arguement with a wall. Next to that is my old V8 Ninety van with a Vitesse engine 8) and the Pug in the foreground was my pal's daily, a 205 special edition of some sort with green interior. It went like the clappers I remember that much. Out of shot is another Series 3 Landy, a Series 2 V8, Defender pickup, 205 1.6 GTI with Mi16 conversion, 405 Mi16, a Metro, Suzuki LJ80 and a Mk 1 Golf GTI. Happy days...

From a financial point of view it would be a C reg R8 Gordini I had in early/mid eighties. It needed a little more work than my ability or finances would allow, to make a nice car. From a heart point of view, just before the R8G I had an R10 which had no value at all and I caned it sensless. Valve bounce was a regular occurrence. It had 'Air-flow' wings (OK rusted wings) a couple of 1100cc motors (complete with auto-choke) and I had more fun in it (driving mostly!) than any car before or since. :D
