@dozeydustmanarranged an AS away day there a few years ago. Very nice it was too.

July last year. I still haven’t finished off the rolls of film in my Canon TX & EF I took on the day.

Happy to arrange another visit there next summer. Still haven’t seen all of it, the steam shed in particular.

The traction engines, the sewage pump engines, the electricity, communications, TV and radio, active workshops, road works exhibits, on site train, bus.... The whole place was just outstanding. @Stuew - seriously - a huge congratulations and bloody well done to your mum and the crew of volunteers. I cannot stress what a great day out this is.

@dozeydustman - count me in if another visit is arranged fella. Like you I lost count of the photos I took.

I'll stop now as it'll get a bit much.

This thread will shortly be changed to my ongoing shite motoring battles through life......

As I left - shite in the station car park

Probably won’t be until next year as I think Amberley winds down over winter. I’m also thinking about a day at an easy to get to heritage or narrow-gauge railway. Can’t promise footplate rides or the same but a mini gathering of our rammel and a ride on a train. I know plenty of heritage lines do a fish & chip special

So part hooray..... Part twat..... isn't it always the way.

330 has been standing waiting attention after I hauled it back from Brussels..... I'd swapped a caliper previous to Covid but hadn't caught it in time so the disc was warped.

Onwards....... Drivers side first then..

Not a problem..... All apart and back together in a record time for me as it was relatively recently apart

IMG_20230312_135420.thumb.jpg.c3899b38fd249946c56ac7edc65cfcbe.jpg

So passenger side stepped up..... Not as easy - fuxstix

IMG_20230312_135443.thumb.jpg.6bce29099548e430d994c922585913c1.jpg

Caliper a shitshow.....

IMG_20230312_135425.thumb.jpg.c86faee7ecc4b1ade30166e520b03a88.jpg

Cue - 2hours back n forth trying to get the sodding piston back in while trying not to lose too much fluid.

Just about to give up when I had the forehead slapping moment of - stashed something a while back as I knew near side would be a royal pain in the arse....

There you are you little sh*t......

IMG_20230312_135435.thumb.jpg.07143cba1ef4dd10f31cd2ebc6a9b9d2.jpg

..... back together and awaiting bleeding

IMG_20230312_171532.thumb.jpg.30597bd4603b4100af66e51aabef6b25.jpg

Because I remembered the stash I have the other rear caliper too... So in for a penny in for a pound and I'll swap that out before a full flush and new fluid right through.

Then we'll see if the minister will let me loose with her again...... Hopefully in time for the next Belgo run.....

Posted

Late report on this one as it's already done 2 Belgo runs since I fixed bodged this - in the name of time and sanity.....

The shed that started this thread anew decided it didn't like holding all of its coolant in its pipework.... I knew this because the needle of despair told me so.

Investigations showed me puddles on the block..... Perfectly placed under the manifold of inlets and many connections.

Air con compressor was dead so that was binned immediately.....

IMG_20230312_171605.thumb.jpg.d81c1adabbfcb2a6f64d7933fab692a2.jpg

A large syringe was used and it proved the metal cross-block pipe had succumbed to rust. That'll be manifold off then.....

In the words of many a proper shiter - F*CK THAT

Mental strains, dextrous fingerings and rerouting/misappropriation of rubber hosing seemed to fit the bill on this occasion.

Flipped a connector over on the header tank and off it went under the manifold - smoothly* routed to the back of the water pump housing.....

IMG_20230312_171557.thumb.jpg.72b8f864f2738062e89161f7af63744e.jpg

Clips on...... Old pipe left in situ... refilled and checked for airlocks - actually not really - 3hrs to eurotunnel so a blat around to fill up and packed for the off.

IMG_20230312_171616.thumb.jpg.c03090988f4003a2a0fd8f054be9dfb8.jpg

Need to get some better clips on there - as above - last minute job but all OK to date so leaving it well alone until I get the 330 back on the road so I have a backup if it all goes tits up.

So this week I am mainly at the other home and am doing bits on the long term project P6 V8.  It's collected shit all over and around it while I've been away.... Words will be had

IMG_20230402_144755.thumb.jpg.f073cd49b452d40d4b0a8c9eb5af3604.jpg

I'll get proper photo's later.....

Thought I'd hoik it up onto the air a bit more - but the relatively new 4ton jack had other ideas...

IMG_20230402_143423.thumb.jpg.ebc1d4dd3dde1cf155c35c8a6a3e0118.jpg

Pin had sheared so tightening and loosening was only possible by lever or screwdriver in the UJ. Not ideal.....

IMG_20230402_143419.thumb.jpg.f64773701902c54a7d54b8027ea7b760.jpg

Heavy fugger.... But a sacrificial screwdriver shaft (fnar fnar) and 2 blobs of weld - all operable again.

I'm electri-sticking bits all down the passenger side this week..... Finger out of arse mode engaged.

So....... It sat available for peanuts for a long while and I was away - so held off.... But no one stepped up, so it would've been downright rude not to.

Was great to meet Mark..... All details swapped online and I shot off following loyal compadre who forgot I was tailing and took off like a bat out of hell 🙄

He managed 3 loops of Basingstoke as he got lost... Karma

I just scraped by the London Rd roundabout as it was closed due to a big accident.... No pics but looked horrendous and I'm sure I saw a bike in amongst the tin tops.

Few miles up the road I saw a silver ST in a layby and a familiar blue shirt cling back in..... 2 miles later I stopped to fill up a bit and check her over after the initial sorte. Checked my phone and message from Tel - he'd ran out of petrol..... So I scooted back and a back n forth for Jerry can, tip up amd then fill up...... Once more en route. Turns out his breakdown site is a known dogging and cottaging rdv for the locals 🤣

320 didn't miss a beat all the way home and ran like a dream. Seriously, seriously impressed.....

See how long that lasts when I have her in for the booked MoT Tue AM.

Thanks a million again Mark, hope the dog calmed down once we'd toddled off....

Great to meet you too John, and glad you got home OK - I thought it should be fine, but it had sat idle for so long.

Seriously easy drive.... All fine and it ran lime clockwork. I was expecting something to rear its head - but all good.

Really, really can't thank you enough.
